Christiane Tetreault appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as August 21, 2026 and the campaign website christianetetreault.ca.
Her campaign’s Meet Christiane page, the campaign’s own account, says she has lived in Ward 14 for 20 years, opened a business in Leslieville in 2014, joined the board of the Leslieville Business Improvement Area that year and was elected its Chair in 2019, a role it says she still holds. A Business Improvement Area is a local board of the City of Toronto that supports a business district. The Local also calls her the chair of the board of the Leslieville BIA and the owner of an event space and a pop-up container market. A letter from the Leslieville BIA to City Council, dated February 6, 2023 and filed in the City Clerk’s records for the February 7, 2023 meeting, is signed “Christiane Tetreault, Chair, Leslieville BIA”. It asks Council to change the CaféTO patio program rules and to halve its fees for 2023. voche.me did not find the BIA’s own board list.
The page says she has led a BIA of more than 200 businesses, has managed its annual budget for eight years without going over it, took part in community liaison committees for developments and in Metrolinx meetings before construction began, and spoke to Global News about the effects of construction on Leslieville businesses. It also says she received a Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA) award for a cycling parking concept called Bike N Stop, and lists other awards. voche.me did not check the awards with the bodies that give them.
The Local reports that she was critical of a supervised consumption site in Leslieville that closed in 2025, arguing it created “traumatic” situations for staff at local small businesses, and that in 2023 she argued that Metrolinx construction congestion had driven shoppers away from Leslieville. Her campaign page says she worked with neighbouring residents on safety at the site and welcomed its closure.
Her campaign names four commitments: easing congestion and improving transit, making the community safer, making Ward 14 more affordable, and supporting small business. Its Meet Christiane page calls for rebuilding the Gardiner Expressway ramps that served the East End. It says the former Logan Avenue ramps were removed in 2021, that the City’s Gardiner East plan has new ramps east of Cherry Street with an uncertain timeline, and that she is gathering 25,000 signatures on a petition. voche.me did not check those statements about the ramps with the City.
