Bob Murphy appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 12 Toronto-St. Paul's. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as August 21, 2026 and no campaign website.
The City Clerk’s declaration of results for the October 24, 2022 general election lists a Bob Murphy third among 4 candidates for Councillor in Ward 12 Toronto-St. Paul’s, with 1,175 votes. Josh Matlow was elected with 22,670. The 4 declared totals add up to 26,782 votes, so the Bob Murphy entry’s share was 4.4 percent, calculated by voche.me from those figures. The City’s document gives only a name. The Local’s Ward 12 tracker says Bob Murphy came third in the 2022 council race in this ward, and a community group Q&A of October 17, 2022 lists a Bob Murphy among the Ward 12 candidates, so those sources tie the entry to him.
The Local, updated as of September 21, 2026, also says he ran for mayor in 2023 and placed 48th of 102 candidates. That figure is The Local’s, and voche.me did not check it against the City’s results. In the 2022 Q&A, published by the Cedarvale & Upper Village Residents Association, he described himself as a legal writer who has worked in law for a number of years and said he has been involved in local politics for years and worked for a short time on a campaign for Dianne Poole, whom The Local describes as a former Liberal Member of Provincial Parliament. Those are his own words from 2022 and were not checked.
CTV News Toronto and CP24 invited registered Toronto council candidates to make their case in a series called Your 30 Seconds, and the CTV page for his entry is dated September 25, 2026. The page holds a short caption and a video, and voche.me did not hear what he said in it.
