About Tamara Bissett-Laza

Tamara Bissett-Laza was elected to the Delta Board of Education on October 17, 2026. The City of Delta's official count gives her 12,744 votes, third of the 18 candidates for seven seats, and the Chief Election Officer declared her elected on October 21, 2026. The North Delta Reporter reported that this was 7.79 per cent of the ballots cast for trustee and called her and Jesse Bierman the newcomers elected with One Delta, alongside three sitting trustees on the slate.

The Reporter reported on May 27, 2026 that One Delta announced its full school board slate at its campaign launch that day, describing her as a labour representative and public education advocate, and Daily Hive reported the same slate on May 30, 2026. The Delta School District's trustee page still showed the Board elected in 2022 on October 30, 2026.

By her own account, in the Reporter's questionnaire, on the One Delta team page and on her VoteMate page, she was born and raised in Delta, attended Ladner Elementary and Delta Secondary, grew up on Westham Island on her family's farm, is a national representative with the Canadian Union of Public Employees working on advocacy, bargaining and organizational leadership, founded the Delta Community Animal Expo, and volunteers with Ladner Minor Baseball, Delta Fastpitch, the Hawthorne Elementary parent advisory council and the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation gala. voche.me has not checked these with the union or the organizations named.

In the Reporter's questionnaire she named three priorities: recruiting and retaining great school staff, strengthening workplace safety and wellbeing, and protecting student learning and classroom resources. She wrote that a position on a staffing chart does not help a student if it cannot be filled, and that she will listen to frontline staff, work with education partners and advocate for the sustainable provincial funding needed to support the people who support students. The One Delta school platform carries the slate's promises, listed on this page as the organization's.

What voche.me has checked

Researched on 2026-10-30 through the seven search steps listed below: the City's declaration of results, results by polling location, declaration of candidates and candidates page; the Delta School District's trustee page; the One Delta team page, school board platform and Safe Routes release of September 1, 2026; her VoteMate page; the North Delta Reporter's questionnaire and its reports of May 27, September 29 and October 18, 2026; and Daily Hive's report of May 30, 2026.

Her union job and her volunteer roles are her own account; no independent source for them was found. Her Facebook and Instagram accounts, named on her VoteMate page, were not read, because both sites show a login page to scripts. No Delta Optimist statement for 2026 and no report of a 2026 all-candidates meeting quoting her was found. She held no public office before the vote, so there is no Board record to read.
