Joe Muego was re-elected to the Delta Board of Education on October 17, 2026. The City of Delta's official count gives him 11,444 votes, sixth of the 18 candidates for seven seats, and the Chief Election Officer declared him elected on October 21, 2026. The North Delta Reporter reported that this was 7 per cent of the ballots cast for trustee and that he and Erica Beard, both running with Achieving for Delta, each won another term.
The District's post of November 9, 2022 says he was sworn in as a new trustee that day. Its post of November 8, 2023 records his election as vice-chair, and the Optimist reported that he was acclaimed. Its post of November 6, 2024 records his election as chair, succeeding Val Windsor, and its post of November 5, 2025 his re-election as chair for a second year. On October 1, 2026 the District published his World Teachers' Day message as chair. The District's trustee page lists him as chair and as liaison trustee for Delta Secondary and four elementary schools, and the District's posts say he sits on the BC School Trustees Association's provincial council, on the Council and Board liaison committee and chairs the District's audit committee.
The Cloverdale Reporter reported in September 2018 that he was the District Parent Advisory Council's chair and was running for the Board that year with Independents Working for You, and the Reporter printed his answers to its 2018 questionnaire; he was not elected that year. The Optimist reported in 2022 that he ran with Achieving for Delta, and in June 2026 that he was one of three sitting trustees on the slate's 2026 team. By his own account, in his 2022 statement to the Optimist, on the slate's team page and in the 2026 questionnaire, he has lived in Delta for 20 years, held parent advisory council positions for 14 years, is a registered architect with his own practice since 2002, and served on City committees including the Advisory Design Panel. voche.me has not checked his registration with the Architectural Institute of BC or his City appointments.
In the Reporter's questionnaire he named three priorities: student success through early literacy and numeracy, strong financial planning and oversight, and a healthy and empowered workforce. He wrote that the District's budget is about $250 million a year, and that one strategy he intends to move forward is a requirement for a zero-based budget at least once per term, which starts from a clean slate and requires a fresh reason for every expense. In the slate's platform release of September 21, 2026, the Reporter reported, he said the system is strong and needs steady, data-driven leadership. The Achieving for Delta school trustee platform carries the slate's promises, listed on this page as the organization's.
