The City's list of certified candidates shows Kevin Hua's nomination for Councillor in Ward 6 Stittsville dated May 8, 2026. The City's published results for the October 24, 2022 election give him 1,244 of the 13,222 votes cast in Ward 6, which is 9.4 percent. Glen Gower won with 7,758 votes (58.7 percent), Mathew Duchesne had 2,692 and Tanya Hein had 1,528. The City's list of elected officials for 2022 to 2026 names Glen Gower as Councillor for Ward 6, and CBC News reported that Gower is not seeking re-election, so no sitting member is running in this ward.
CBC News calls him a local activist who has previously run in other elections, and says he is one of two candidates who also ran against Gower in 2022. In the CTV News questionnaire he lists himself as the NDP candidate for Carleton in the 2019 and 2021 federal elections, and his campaign website says he ran for Parliament in those years. voche.me did not check the federal results. His campaign website says he has a Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management and a Master of Public Policy and Administration from Carleton University, and multiple years of co-op work in the federal public service at Environment and Climate Change Canada, Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Service Canada. It says he co-founded West Side Pride in 2023, and worked as an office secretary in the Ottawa Catholic School Board's International and Indigenous Languages Program. These are his own statements, and voche.me has not checked them with the university, the employers or the school board.
His campaign website sets out three priorities. For transit it calls for a Stittsville bus station, more bus lanes and traffic signals that favour buses, an on-demand ride service, a citizen seat on the Transit Commission, and work toward fare-free transit for riders under 18, seniors and people on Ontario Disability Support Program and Ontario Works. For planning it calls for a community design plan for Hazeldean Road, a community benefits framework (rules that make developers provide parks and other benefits), completion of the Kanata-Stittsville primary care health hub and a housing acquisition fund. For road safety it calls for a Vision Zero action plan, school streets and better walking and cycling links.
In the CBC News questionnaire he says it would be irresponsible to name a maximum 2027 tax increase, picks a transit levy (a separate property tax charge for transit) for OC Transpo deficits, and says police budget growth is becoming unsustainable and the police service should focus on its core mandate. At the September 17, 2026 debate Stittsville Central reported that he made transit his top priority and proposed a community benefits framework, which he said would give the City more power to make developers pay for amenities. The sources voche.me read hold no complaint or allegation about him.
