The City of Ottawa’s list of certified candidates shows Daniel Pershick’s nomination for trustee of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in Zone 3 dated August 21, 2026. The City’s open data file shows no withdrawal. He gave the City a campaign website. CTV News Ottawa lists him among the candidates for the zone. The other candidates in the zone are Brenda Abramson and Kenneth (Kangwu) Xi.
His campaign website says he has lived in Barrhaven since 2014 and has worked for “nearly a decade” as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in critical care. It says he is the parent of a young child who will enter the local school system in a few years, and that he joined the Ontario Autism Coalition at public rallies for special education funding. It says he opposes cuts to health care and education. These are his own statements, and voche.me has not checked his work or his role at the rallies.
His platform lists four priorities: student achievement, with consistent classroom resources and a focus on literacy, writing and mathematics; support that families can navigate, with attention to students who need individual support; accountable local representation, including advocacy for an end to provincial supervision and plain-language updates; and reliable schools and services, including infrastructure, communication and transportation. His biography page adds three commitments: safe and inclusive schools, funded classrooms and special education, and independent representation that puts students’ needs ahead of provincial party agendas. The site names no party.
CBC News reported on August 27, 2026 that he and seven candidates from other zones signed a shared statement of principles calling for an immediate end to provincial supervision, and the Ottawa Citizen published the same list. His website lists the five principles: local democracy, student support, no hate in our schools, co-operation, and working for you. The board’s page says that since June 27, 2025 the board has been under supervision by the Minister of Education, so that decisions normally made by trustees are made by the appointed Supervisor. His website says that during supervision he would bring Zone 3 concerns forward and help families find their way in the system. The sources voche.me read hold no complaint or allegation about him.
