About Benoit Massé

The City of Ottawa’s list of certified candidates shows Benoit Massé’s nomination for trustee of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in Zone 4 dated May 26, 2026. The City’s open data file shows no withdrawal. He gave the City a campaign website, a Facebook page, an Instagram account and a LinkedIn address. His campaign pages print his surname without the accent. CTV News Ottawa and The Leveller, which calls him a newcomer in Bay and Kitchissippi, name him.

His campaign website says he has served 27 years as a public servant in senior leadership roles in the Government of Canada, is a Chartered Professional Accountant with a Master of Science in Business Administration, and is bilingual. It says he and his wife have lived in the zone for five years, that he took part in the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign, and that he has been a member of the Elmdale Public School Council for two years. A post on his campaign blog of May 25, 2026 says his current role is Deputy Chief Financial Officer and does not name the department. These are his own statements, and voche.me has not checked them with an employer, a university or the school.

His platform and blog list three main commitments: restore financial sustainability, with balanced budgets, spending that goes to classrooms and student services, and openness in board decisions; put students first, with safe, inclusive schools, mental health support, help for special education and action on bullying, harassment and discrimination; and support staff, parents and community views through regular community meetings and clear communication. He writes that he supports more Educational Assistants and that he will advocate for more provincial funding for special education and mental health services. His VoteMate page lists these as promises.

The board’s page says that since June 27, 2025 the board has been under supervision by the Minister of Education, so that decisions normally made by trustees are made by the appointed Supervisor. A blog post of July 13, 2026 says he is prepared to take up the trustee role whenever governance returns to elected trustees, whether in the first year or the last year of the term. The sources voche.me read hold no complaint or allegation about him.
