Catherine Pope was re-elected to District of North Vancouver Council on October 17, 2026. The District's official count gives her 10,433 votes, the most of the 15 candidates for six council seats. The Chief Election Officer declared the result on October 19, 2026.
She was first elected to Council in 2022, when The North Shore Local listed her among the six councillors elected. By her own account on her campaign site and in the biography she gave the District's elections office, she worked for two decades as an investigative journalist at Global TV, then in communications for the BC Nurses' Union, and started her own media relations business in 2016. She also says she served 20 years on the Victoria Foundation's adoption committee and on the board of the Disability Foundation.
In her North Shore News answers she wrote that she had demanded answers on the cost of the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant since 2024 and would keep fighting for lower utility bills and an independent review of Metro Vancouver. Her campaign site lists a 2024 motion for a public inquiry into the plant's cost overruns among the motions she led, and her VoteMate biography says Council endorsed that motion unanimously. That is her own account.
In July 2023 The North Shore Local reported that she brought a motion asking District staff to look at replacing the aging Lynn Valley firehall with a new one that has social housing above it.
On transportation she wrote that she would keep pressing the Province and TransLink for a new crossing with SkyTrain and for major infrastructure investment, and on housing that she wants to explore allowing single-family stratification and to press for federal funding for housing co-ops.
