The City of Ottawa’s open data file shows Spencer Warren’s nomination for trustee of the Ottawa Catholic School Board in Zone 4 dated May 11, 2026, with no withdrawal. The other nomination in the zone is Greg Hopkins, dated August 19, 2026. CTV News Ottawa’s guide of September 9, 2026 lists both and marks neither as acclaimed. The City’s page for this board could not be read, so voche.me relies on the open data file.
The board’s trustee page lists him as Board Trustee for Zone 4, which covers Ward 3 Barrhaven-West, Ward 22 Riverside South-Findlay Creek and Ward 24 Barrhaven-East. CBC News listed him as the trustee-elect for Zone 4 on October 23, 2018, and said those results were unofficial at the time. The Barrhaven Independent reported on August 19, 2022 that he was acclaimed in 2018 after nobody ran against him. The paper reported on November 7, 2022 that he was going into his third term. The City’s official results for the October 24, 2022 election give him 3,370 of the 6,953 votes cast in the Zone 4 race, which is 48.5 percent. Greg Hopkins had 1,998 votes and Nicolas Caravaggio had 1,585.
The board’s release of June 1, 2022 says that the year before, Trustee Spencer Warren brought forth a motion, which Vice-Chair Jeremy Wittet seconded, and the Board of Trustees approved it, to fly the Pride flag at all board schools. The Barrhaven Independent reported the same motion. His X profile calls him a trustee for the board, a father and husband, and a proud supporter of Catholic education, and it carries a rainbow flag symbol.
On school buildings he has told the Barrhaven Independent the following. In August 2021 he said that expansion funding let the board remove 11 portable classrooms at St. Joseph High School, that 13 remained, that the board planned another high school in Barrhaven and that he had been seeking a new elementary school in Findlay Creek for six years. In March 2022 he said that a new Barrhaven South Catholic Elementary School would ease crowding at St. Cecilia and St. Benedict, and that the Findlay Creek school had been approved. In November 2022 he said he had advocated for four new schools in his zone, one already open in Half Moon Bay, and that he was working on a business case for another high school in Barrhaven. The board’s release of April 21, 2022 quotes him saying he was pleased to have successfully advocated for a new Catholic elementary school in Riverside South, and the board’s chair thanked him for that work. These are his statements and the board’s as printed, and voche.me has not checked the claims about the schools.
CTV News Ottawa reported on May 7, 2026 that the board’s chair, Mark D. Mullan, wrote on behalf of all 10 trustees to Education Minister Paul Calandra on May 4, 2026 to raise serious concerns about Bill 101, the Putting Student Achievement First Act. The letter is the board’s position as the chair put it, and voche.me did not find how each trustee voted on any motion. voche.me found no 2026 campaign statement from him. The sources read hold no complaint or allegation about him.
