The City’s list of certified candidates shows Brian Paquette’s nomination for Councillor in Ward 12 Rideau-Vanier dated August 19, 2026, and shows no registration in the Contribution Rebate Program. It lists no website and no social media account for him. CBC News reported on August 25, 2026 that he was one of four people who signed up to run just days before the deadline, and describes him as a personal trainer and martial arts instructor.
In the CTV News Ottawa questionnaire he gives his age as 54 and says he has lived in Ottawa for 54 years. He lists no political experience, and lists his professional experience as 30-year coach, entrepreneur, leadership trainer, youth councilor, public speaker. These are his own statements, and voche.me has not checked them.
In the same questionnaire he says he would want to see a decrease in transit fares, specifically for older adults, youth and people on social assistance. He says he is open to increasing the police budget if it brings five things: more visible police, faster response times, more investment in community safety, more tools against serious crime and prevention, and a reduction in overtime and staffing. He answers yes to an infrastructure levy, an extra property tax charge for roads and sewers. For the biggest issues in the ward he writes community safety, wellbeing, housing, health and welfare, and says he will work with and for the community with transparency, inclusion and empathy. The sources voche.me read hold no complaint or allegation about him.
