About Rob Haines

Rob Haines was elected to the North Vancouver Board of Education on October 17, 2026, as one of the four trustees the District of North Vancouver elects. The District's official count gives him 7,265 votes, second of the 11 candidates. The Chief Election Officer declared the result on October 19, 2026.

On election night the North Shore News reported that being elected meant a lot to him after 23 years as a teacher, and quoted him saying that education is a pillar of society. On VoteMate he wrote that he has worked as a secondary teacher, a primary special education teacher, an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme educator and a vice principal, in Ontario, Hong Kong and British Columbia. That is his own account. The statement he filed with the District, reproduced by North Van Votes, says the same.

He wrote on VoteMate that he would advocate for students, invest in strong public schools and help make sure the resources students and educators need reach classrooms.

His career is his own account. His campaign site no longer answers, and the North Shore News trustee questionnaire could not be read. The one photo found, the candidate photo the District published as copied by North Van Votes, has its background cut out and replaced, so it was not used as a portrait.
