## Park Board, Pools and Recreation: what the Policy Priorities says

Vote Vancouver's parks list begins with the Park Board itself. The party would keep the board independently elected and properly funded, so that it stays responsible and accountable to residents. Most of the rest of this page is about pools. The party would deliver a 50-metre pool and commit to pools at the Sunset and Marpole community centres. It would move forward with the renewal of the Britannia Community Services Precinct and work to keep pools open during that work wherever possible. It would also restore full practical public access to Kitsilano Pool. The platform does not say what limits access there today.

Two items are about cost and health. Vote Vancouver would make recreation more affordable for families and young people, and deliver a Community Health in Our Parks Plan with outdoor fitness and calisthenics equipment, which is equipment for body-weight exercise such as pull-up bars. Vancouver's seven elected park commissioners control parks, community centres, pools, rinks and beaches, so the Park Board would act on most of this page. New pools are buildings, paid for through the city's capital plan, which Council approves. Whether the board stays elected is set by the Vancouver Charter, which only the Province can change.
