## The aim of Reconciliation and Indigenous Nations, in the party's words

> TrueBlue Vancouver's approach to reconciliation & indigenous nations is organized around the following commitments.

The reconciliation and Indigenous Nations section of TrueBlue Vancouver's 2026 platform runs from page 33 to page 37. It covers Indigenous languages, schooling, housing, land title, place names, residential schools and a final "Additional Policy". We split it into two pages: one on language, names and history, and one on land, housing and governance.

The party would keep English as the standard language for city services, signs and place names, oppose what it calls ideological renaming, and end mandatory land acknowledgements. It would teach residential school history accurately and require evidence for burial site claims. It opposes voluntary city transfers of land, assets or control based on ancestry or historical claims, would apply the same development rules to every project, and rejects what it calls race-based governance. The Indigenous schooling policy is repeated in the schools section, where this site lists it.

Council controls city signs, street names, city-owned land and its own meeting practices, so it could act on most of this section for the city. School teaching is run by the School Board. Agreements between First Nations and the provincial or federal governments are made by those governments.
