## Homelessness, Building Safety and Property Taxes: what the 2026 Full Election Platform says

This part of TrueBlue Vancouver's housing section deals with people who have no home and with the costs that owners and renters carry. On homelessness, the party wants sidewalks, parks and public spaces kept usable for everyone. It would pair firm enforcement against permanent encampments with shelter, treatment, recovery and transitional housing. The platform presents this as a balance of enforcement and services.

For supportive housing, TrueBlue would give priority to temporary and supportive housing for people it calls genuinely in need. It would stress treatment, work, recovery and steps toward independent housing wherever possible. On building safety, the party would enforce basic health, fire and building standards, cut what it calls red tape for responsible owners, and aim enforcement at unsafe buildings.

The property tax policy sits in this section of the PDF. TrueBlue would restrain property-tax increases, run a citywide spending review and cut waste and bureaucracy. The party says the aim is to protect homeowners, renters, seniors and small businesses from rising city costs. It gives no percentage target. Its budgeting policy, in the local government section, repeats the call for a spending audit.

Council funds shelter sites, street cleaning and city outreach, sets the property tax rate and enforces city building bylaws. Treatment, health services and most supportive housing money come from the Province, so the party's treatment-first approach would depend on provincial programs. The Park Board controls the parks where some encampments stand, so enforcement there would also involve that board. The platform gives no shelter target.
