# TEAM for a Livable Vancouver on transportation: buses, bike lane reviews and no road pricing

TEAM for a Livable Vancouver backs an "all-of-the-above" transportation plan. It would put every resident within a 5-minute walk of a bus stop, review the Stanley Park and Beach Avenue bike lanes, repair sidewalks, restore parking minimums and refuse road pricing and city-wide parking permits.

## The aim of Transportation, in the party's words

> TEAM will work to reduce travel times for all modes of transportation while also prioritizing safety, reliability, and sustainability.

Transportation is one of TEAM for a Livable Vancouver's ten positions. The party says Vancouver is one of the most congested cities in North America and that past councils treated private cars as a problem. It wants a system that works for people who drive, take transit, cycle or walk. TEAM's longer page sorts its actions under headings, and each has its own chapter here: transit, cycling, walking and rolling, and personal and commercial vehicles.

On transit, TEAM would work with TransLink to restore cut bus routes, electrify buses, add small community routes and put every resident within a 5-minute walk of a stop. On cycling, it would build low-traffic cross-town routes and review the Granville Bridge Connector and the Stanley Park and Beach Avenue bike lanes. It would repair and widen sidewalks, synchronize traffic lights, restore parking minimums for new buildings, and refuse road pricing and city-wide parking permits.

The city owns and designs its streets, bike lanes, sidewalks and parking rules, so Council can act on those items. Buses, SkyTrain and SeaBus are run by TransLink, a regional body the city does not control, so every transit promise depends on TransLink agreeing.
