HOUSING FOR ALL

## A City for Renters: what the Our Plans says

The renters' section of OneCity's housing plan, released on September 24, 2026, deals with people who already rent. The party says it would bring back the Renters' Office, which it describes as bigger and better than the one Vancouver had before. The main rule change is to the Tenant Relocation and Protection Policy, known as TRPP. It is the city policy that gives money and help with moving to renters who must leave because their building is renovated or redeveloped. OneCity would expand it across the city and cut the time a renter must live in a building to qualify from one year to six months.

The party would also make developers pay renters whose move-in date is pushed back by construction delays. It calls this the Tenant Delay Guarantee. It would end the ban on pets in city-owned housing, and press the Province to end blanket no-pet clauses in leases. Council sets city housing policy and runs city-owned rentals, so it can act on the office, the TRPP and the pet rule in its own buildings. Tenancy law and lease rules are provincial, so the no-pet clause change is something the party can only ask for.
