BETTER SCHOOLS

## One Britannia: what the Our Plans says

The second project in OneCity's Better Schools plan, released on September 29, 2026, is Britannia in East Vancouver. The party calls it One Britannia. Its School Board candidates say they would carry out a plan with City Council, the Park Board and other public and community partners to rebuild the whole 18-acre site as one public campus. At its centre are rebuilt elementary and secondary schools, which the party says would serve students for the next 50 years. Next to them the plan puts child care that is low-cost, open to ordinary families and available at more hours of the day. A renewed community centre and ice rink would add more ice time and space for fitness and recreation.

The plan also includes food security and social development programs, meaning free and low-cost food and support for people in need, run with other governments and community partners. The party says it always puts non-profit housing on public land first, and that Britannia would include new non-profit homes that stay affordable for workers and families. The School Board controls the school buildings, the Park Board runs the community centre and rink, and City Council approves rezoning and housing. A project of this size needs all three bodies to agree, and the party itself names provincial and community partners for the food programs.
