[All parties ](https://voche.me/parties) **9**Independent candidates **3**Races they are in WHAT IT MEANS ON THE BALLOT ## What running without a party changes A party in a British Columbia local election is called an elector organization. Only a registered one can endorse candidates, take campaign contributions as a group and spend as a group. A candidate running alone raises and files their own money, and their name appears on the ballot with no affiliation beside it. It also changes what they can do if elected. Council decisions need six votes of eleven. A candidate with no party arrives with no bloc, which means every vote has to be won one at a time. That is a real difference, and it cuts both ways: no bloc to rely on, and no bloc to answer to. The candidates listed below share nothing except the absence of a party label. Treating them as a group would be inventing a relationship that does not exist, so this page lists them and links to their own profiles.
