Toronto is marking Veterans' Week from November 5 to 11, 2026, with an Indigenous Veterans Day ceremony on Sunday November 8 and Remembrance Day ceremonies at seven locations across the city on Wednesday November 11.

Mayor [Olivia Chow](/on/toronto-2026/candidates/olivia-chow) will proclaim November 8 as Indigenous Veterans Day and the Toronto Sign at Nathan Phillips Square will be lit in the four colours of the Medicine Wheel: red, white, yellow and black. A Sacred Fire led by Young Spiritual Elder Noodjmowin and a Sharing Circle at the Spirit Garden at Nathan Phillips Square will honour First Nations, Métis, Inuit and non-status Indigenous veterans. The City's release says everyone is invited to attend the Sacred Fire.

The year also marks the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion. An illuminated poppy has been added to the Toronto Sign, which is lit red, in support of the Legion's National Poppy Campaign.

## Remembrance Day, November 11

Remembrance Day ceremonies start at 10:45 a.m. on November 11 at seven locations:

- Old City Hall Cenotaph, 60 Queen St. W.
- East York Civic Centre Memorial Gardens, 850 Coxwell Ave.
- Etobicoke Civic Centre Cenotaph, 399 The West Mall
- Fort York National Historic Site, 100 Garrison Rd.
- North York Cenotaph in York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Rd.
- Scarborough War Memorial, 2190 Kingston Rd.
- York Civic Centre Cenotaph, 2700 Eglinton Ave. W.

The Old City Hall ceremony will be livestreamed on the City's YouTube channel and on toronto.ca/LestWeForget.

## Road closures near Old City Hall

Bay Street will be closed from Albert Street to Richmond Street West, and Queen Street West will be closed from Bay Street to east of York Street on November 11. Yonge Street access near Old City Hall is also restricted due to construction. The City asks residents to approach from the west and use Osgoode Subway Station on Line 1.

TTC vehicles will stop for two minutes at 11 a.m. on November 11 where it is operationally possible, the City says.

A "Toronto Remembers" exhibit with panels on military and peacekeeping milestones is in the Rotunda at Toronto City Hall and along construction fencing at Queen Street West and Bay Street through November 11, in partnership with Metrolinx.
