## What the paper said

The Downsview Advocate named three reasons for its choice: Choi's commitment to community advocacy, his understanding of local school issues, and his emphasis on trustee accountability.

The paper reported that Choi visited schools in the ward and talked with parents about Model Schools funding. He also created a community survey to gather concerns from parents and caregivers, then brought those findings to local MPPs and the Ministry of Education.

Choi told the paper that the role requires someone "in conversation with the community that they represent to advocate on behalf of their needs."

The paper noted that he has four years of municipal government experience, including time working in a local councillor's office, and that his decision to run came from concerns about education funding cuts and infrastructure in local schools.

## The race
