Stikuts will take office on November 15, 2026, when the new council term begins under section 6 (1) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. The first meeting of the new City Council is November 18, 2026.

## What Stikuts has promised

Stikuts ran on a platform focused on tenant rights, housing, transit and public space. His platform page commits to pushing for more investment in the Multi-Unit Residential Acquisition Program, which helps non-profits, cooperatives and community land trusts buy rental buildings. The platform also proposes a new stream to buy unsold condo units in bulk and convert them to permanently affordable homes.

On tenant protection, his platform commits to doubling the Rent Bank and expanding the Eviction Prevention in the Community program. He also committed to fighting for a maximum temperature rule requiring rental homes to stay at or below 26 degrees Celsius, enforced through the City's RentSafeTO program.

For transit, his platform supports making a bus or streetcar every 15 minutes the minimum service across the city, and extending the weekly TTC fare cap to post-secondary students.

## The ward

Ward 13 Toronto Centre covers parts of downtown Toronto including Corktown, Regent Park, the Garden District, St. Lawrence Market, Moss Park and the Church-Wellesley Village. It is one of the wards in the City's 25-ward council structure. The councillor sits on City Council and votes on the budget, bylaws, rezonings and other City decisions.

Moise had won the seat in 2022, his first term on council. NOW Toronto reported that the ward had 11 candidates on the ballot in 2026.
