Toronto City Clerk John D. Elvidge certified the official results of the 2026 municipal election on October 29, 2026, the City of Toronto announced. A total of 989,990 ballots were cast across the mayor's race, 25 city council ward races and four school board trustee races held on October 26.

Certification confirms who holds each of the 55 elected seats for the 2026 to 2030 term. Four seats were filled by acclamation before election day, meaning those candidates ran unopposed in their race. For all other races, the unofficial results announced on election night are now the official record.

Under section 55 of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, the City Clerk is required to certify the results as soon as possible after voting day.

## Term and first council meeting

The new council term begins on Sunday, November 15, 2026. Section 6 (1) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 sets that date.

The first meeting of the new City Council takes place on Wednesday, November 18, and continues on Thursday, November 19. Toronto Municipal Code section 27-5.1 sets the first meeting on the first Wednesday after November 15. Newly elected members will make their Declaration of Office with the City Clerk before that first meeting, the City says.

## Results and voter data

The City says poll-by-poll voting data is now available, showing the number of votes cast during advance voting, by mail, and at each voting place on election day. Final voter turnout statistics will be available within 30 days of the election.

Certified results for every race are at [toronto.ca/city-government/elections](https://toronto.ca/city-government/elections). Residents can see results by candidate and ward, and the full count across all 55 races, at [/on/toronto-2026/results](/on/toronto-2026/results). The next regular meeting of City Council after the inaugural session will be set at that first meeting on November 18.
