Etobicoke-Lakeshore councillor Amber Morley is seeking a second term on October 26, pointing to a first-term record that includes committee work on policing and the city budget and a vote to rename Yonge-Dundas Square. Now Toronto published a profile of Morley on October 8 ahead of the advance voting period, which ends October 11.

Morley won her Ward 3 seat in 2022 by defeating Mark Grimes, who had held it for many years. She told Now Toronto that defeating a sitting councillor is a difficult task in Toronto municipal politics. She said she ran because she wanted "to see change that reflected my values, that reflected my vision of what a healthy and inclusive, sustainable city looks like."

During her first term, Morley served as deputy mayor and sat on the Police Services Board and Budget Committee, according to the Now Toronto article. She says she voted in favour of the December 2023 council decision to rename Yonge-Dundas Square to Sankofa Square, a vote the City of Toronto's website confirms took place on December 14, 2023 following two years of work by a community advisory committee.

## Transit and accessibility

Morley told Now Toronto that transit reliability and safety are priorities for her ward. She said residents want the TTC to be reliable and efficient and that getting people where they need to go without sitting in traffic is a key goal.

The article identifies a specific local goal: making Mimico GO Station accessible. Now Toronto reports it is currently the only GO station in the network that does not meet full accessibility standards. Morley says she has been working with advocacy groups and transit partners to push for the needed upgrades.
