01 / Introduction

## About Timothy Ellis

Timothy Ellis appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Toronto District School Board in Ward 2. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as July 29, 2026 and the campaign website votetim.ca. His site and campaign materials call him Tim Ellis.

His campaign website says he has served on the boards of the Mimico Residents Association (7 years), South Etobicoke Community Legal Services (5 years), Mimico Lakeshore Community Network (3 years) and LAMP Community Health Centre (2 years), and that he has volunteered at community festivals in Lakeshore Village and Mimico. The Toronto and York Region Labour Council’s page about him repeats the board service and says he has lived in South Etobicoke since 2012. The page appears on the Council’s list of endorsed Toronto trustee candidates. These are the campaign’s and the Labour Council’s statements, and voche.me did not check them with the organizations named.

TDSB wards changed for 2026. The Etobicoke Voice reports that Etobicoke Centre and Etobicoke-Lakeshore now form one trustee ward, the new TDSB Ward 2. The City Clerk’s 2022 results show Dan MacLean elected in the 2022 Ward 2, and The Etobicoke Voice calls him the current Etobicoke Centre trustee and reports that he said in an online post that he will not seek re-election. voche.me did not read that post. None of the three candidates in the new Ward 2 appears in the Toronto District School Board results of the 2022 declaration. The TDSB’s trustee wards page says that during provincial supervision the powers of trustees rest with the provincially appointed Supervisor, that trustees have no official duties with the board at this time, and that this also applies to trustees elected in October 2026.

In a statement dated August 16 on his website, he says the role of trustee remains important under supervision and that the most effective trustees will be those who understand how to unite people around shared values. This is the campaign’s own statement.

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates; the home, Meet Tim, Policy Overview and supervision statement pages of his campaign website; the Labour Council’s page about him and its endorsement list; The Etobicoke Voice’s article of September 24, 2026 and its one-month review of nominations, which describe the school board changes and do not name him; the City Clerk’s 2022 declaration of results; The Local’s trustee analysis of August 24, 2026; and the TDSB’s trustee wards page. He holds no trustee or other public role on any record opened. Every statement taken from his campaign website is written as the campaign’s own account.

Gaps. The saved copy of The Local’s candidate tracker holds no trustee names, so it is not cited. His site names a family, which is left out of this record. His Facebook, Instagram and Bluesky links were not read: the Bluesky page returned an empty shell. The Labour Council’s endorsement list is the Council’s own statement. The questionnaire has not been sent.
