A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as August 21, 2026 and gives his campaign website, shaunchen.ca. voche.me treats that site as the campaign's own statement. The House of Commons record lists Shaun Chen, a Liberal, as Member of Parliament for Scarborough North in four terms: from October 19, 2015, from October 21, 2019, from September 20, 2021 and from April 28, 2025, with the last term ending on August 15, 2026. This is a past public role, stated from the official record. Ontario municipal candidates have no party on the ballot, and the role gives him no party label for 2026. A City Clerk report to City Council dated October 26, 2015 describes him as the Toronto District School Board trustee for Ward 21 (City Wards 41 and 42) who was elected to the House of Commons on October 19, 2015. CBC reported in August 2015 that he resigned as board chair and took a leave from his trustee seat to run federally, and CP24 reports that he served as chair from December 2014 to August 2015. His campaign website, the campaign's own account, lists five issues: making sure Scarborough is not ignored, including the Sheppard Subway Extension; affordability, with public consultation on every budget vote; new homes, transit and infrastructure, including the Steeles Avenue widening and the Morningside Avenue extension; neighbourhood safety, including the Neighbourhood Community Officer program; and support for seniors, youth and the vulnerable. TTCriders' Ward 23 page records that he answered Yes to 16 of its 18 transit questions and No to 2. In its comments section he explained that he cannot commit to new RapidTO routes without a detailed proposal and public consultation, and that he supports the concept given appropriate consultation.
