A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as August 7, 2026. The City’s list gives no campaign website for him. The Local’s candidate tracker, written by that outlet’s journalists, says little information is available online about him. It says he previously worked as a taxi driver and that in 2016 he advocated against the taxi drivers’ strike, calling rideshare apps like Uber “healthy” competition, and that it is unclear whether he is still a driver. That is The Local’s account, and voche.me found no second source for the 2016 statement. The Local says he ran for Toronto District School Board trustee in the ward in 2014 and finished last, ran for trustee again in 2022 and finished seventh of eight, and ran for councillor in the 2023 Ward 20 by-election and finished last of 23. voche.me read two City Clerk documents. The Clerk’s results for the November 30, 2023 by-election list a Naser Kaid with 13 votes, the lowest of 23 candidates, and the 23 declared totals add up to 16,950 votes. The Clerk’s results for the October 24, 2022 general election list a Naser Kaid for TDSB Ward 18 (the trustee ward as it was in 2022) with 451 votes, seventh of 8 candidates among 18,144 declared votes. The Local’s account ties both entries to him. voche.me read no City document for the 2014 result. Ward context. The Ward 20 Scarborough Southwest councillor on the City’s Members of Council page is Parthi Kandavel, who is also a candidate. The 8 Ward 20 council candidates on the City’s roster are Parthi Kandavel (sitting councillor), Laikul Choudhury, Naser Kaid, Ariel-Rachel Karokis, Luigi Lisciandro, Sharmina Nasrin, Mohammad Ali Reza and Kevin Rupasinghe. The City Clerk’s 2022 results for council in Ward 20 list 8 candidates and 23,428 votes in total: Gary Crawford (8,216, elected), Parthi Kandavel (6,936), Kevin Rupasinghe (3,208), Lorenzo Berardinetti (2,773), Malik Ahmad (709), Corey David (615), Sharif Ahmed (608) and Philip Mills (363). The Clerk’s results for the November 30, 2023 by-election list 23 candidates: Parthi Kandavel (4,641, elected), Kevin Rupasinghe (3,854), Anna Sidiropoulos (2,275) and 20 others. Beach Metro’s September 30 report names Malik Ahmad among the eight Ward 20 council candidates and leaves out Naser Kaid. The City’s roster has Naser Kaid for Ward 20 council and a Malik Ahmad for TDSB Ward 10, so voche.me follows the City’s list. A Sept. 28, 2026 candidates’ meeting at the West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre, reported by Beach Metro, featured 4 of the 8: Parthi Kandavel, Ariel-Rachel Karokis, Sharmina Nasrin and Kevin Rupasinghe. Organizers invited only candidates who had given the City contact information when they registered. TTCriders’ page and Build Canada’s page record no response from him. The Local says he has no platform available online. Beach Metro’s September 30 list of Ward 20 candidates leaves him out, which is the reason for the note above about the City’s list. Gaps. The City’s list gives no campaign website and no social media account for him, and none was found by name search, so there is no statement of his own to quote. His 2014 result and his 2016 taxi statement come from The Local only. voche.me found no second source for either. No public role is on record for him, so no minutes search applies. The questionnaire has not been sent.
