01 / Introduction
## About Mohammad Ali Reza
Mohammad Ali Reza appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 20 Scarborough Southwest. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as June 5, 2026 and the campaign website vote4reza.ca.
The Local’s candidate tracker, written by that outlet’s journalists, says that according to his LinkedIn page he is the owner of Ad & Design Square Inc., a local company that makes custom signage for businesses. It also says that in a Facebook post he said he wants to give seniors more programming, give children more sports and recreation opportunities, help people find employment, support local businesses, fix roads and end construction delays. voche.me did not check the business claim with the company or a registry.
His campaign website, the campaign’s own statement, says he has called Scarborough Southwest home for years and worked with local organizations, small business owners and neighbourhood groups before the race. It names no organization. The site says it was authorized and paid for by the Campaign to Elect Mohammad Ali Reza. voche.me did not check these statements.
No result for him appears in the City Clerk’s 2022 results or the 2023 by-election results for Ward 20 council under this name, and no source opened shows him in an earlier municipal race.

## What voche.me has checked
Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, his campaign home page, The Local’s Ward 20 tracker, TTCriders’ Ward 20 page, Build Canada’s Ward 20 page, The Green Line’s Ward 20 page and Beach Metro’s report on the September 28 meeting. Every statement taken from his campaign website is written as the campaign’s own account. The site’s About and Plan menu items opened as pages that do not exist, so only the home page was read.
Ward context. The Ward 20 Scarborough Southwest councillor on the City’s Members of Council page is Parthi Kandavel, who is also a candidate. The 8 Ward 20 council candidates on the City’s roster are Parthi Kandavel (sitting councillor), Laikul Choudhury, Naser Kaid, Ariel-Rachel Karokis, Luigi Lisciandro, Sharmina Nasrin, Mohammad Ali Reza and Kevin Rupasinghe. The City Clerk’s 2022 results for council in Ward 20 list 8 candidates and 23,428 votes in total: Gary Crawford (8,216, elected), Parthi Kandavel (6,936), Kevin Rupasinghe (3,208), Lorenzo Berardinetti (2,773), Malik Ahmad (709), Corey David (615), Sharif Ahmed (608) and Philip Mills (363). The Clerk’s results for the November 30, 2023 by-election list 23 candidates: Parthi Kandavel (4,641, elected), Kevin Rupasinghe (3,854), Anna Sidiropoulos (2,275) and 20 others. Beach Metro’s September 30 report names Malik Ahmad among the eight Ward 20 council candidates and leaves out Naser Kaid. The City’s roster has Naser Kaid for Ward 20 council and a Malik Ahmad for TDSB Ward 10, so voche.me follows the City’s list. A Sept. 28, 2026 candidates’ meeting at the West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre, reported by Beach Metro, featured 4 of the 8: Parthi Kandavel, Ariel-Rachel Karokis, Sharmina Nasrin and Kevin Rupasinghe. Organizers invited only candidates who had given the City contact information when they registered. TTCriders’ page and Build Canada’s page record no response from him. Beach Metro says he was not among the four candidates at the September 28 meeting.
Gaps. His site links Facebook, Instagram and YouTube accounts. The Facebook page returned only a header, the YouTube page returned only the site footer, and the Instagram profile returned only a summary from a web reader, so nothing from social media is used. No public role is on record for him, so no minutes search applies. The Local’s statements about his business and his Facebook post were not checked against another source. The questionnaire has not been sent.
