01 / Introduction

## About Mike Colle

Mike Colle appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 8 Eglinton-Lawrence. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as May 1, 2026 and the campaign website mikecolle2026.ca.

The City’s Members of Council page lists Councillor Mike Colle for Eglinton-Lawrence. His City profile says he served Eglinton-Lawrence as a municipal councillor and local Member of Provincial Parliament for three decades, and was a councillor for the City of York and Metropolitan Toronto and chair of the Toronto Transit Commission from 1988 to 1994. The profile ends with the line “information provided by the Councillor”, so these details are his own account, published on the City’s page. The City’s pages give no year for the start of his current term, so none is stated here. The page shows the date modified as August 26, 2026. It lists his committees and boards as the Executive Committee, the Infrastructure and Environment Committee (Vice-Chair), the FIFA World Cup 2026 Subcommittee (Chair), the Nominating Panel - Corporations (Vice-Chair) and two arena boards of management.

The Legislative Assembly of Ontario’s page for Mike Colle lists the riding Eglinton-Lawrence (in the 36th Parliament, Oakwood) and the party Ontario Liberal Party, with service from June 8, 1995 (general election) to June 6, 2018 (not re-elected). voche.me read that page through a summary tool, because a direct request was refused.

The City Clerk’s declaration of results for the October 24, 2022 general election lists Mike Colle first among 5 candidates for Councillor in Ward 8 Eglinton-Lawrence, with 17,109 votes, marked elected. Evan Sambasivam was second with 3,447, Wendy Weston third with 1,990, Philip Davidovits fourth with 1,275 and Domenico Maiolo fifth with 513. The 5 declared totals add up to 24,334 votes, so his share was 70.3 percent and Sambasivam’s was 14.2 percent, calculated by voche.me from those figures.

His campaign website puts community safety first. It says he will keep demanding a full-time RCMP and Ontario Provincial Police presence in the ward, and lists support for more police resources, speed cameras at schools, the $140 million Lawrence Heights community centre hub and opposition to what it calls hyper-development at Lawrence Plaza. It also lists Council initiatives he says he led, including crisis response teams, a request to pause development in the Marlee corridor, bylaws for buffer zones around places of worship, and requests for tax credits for security costs at schools and places of worship. These are the campaign’s statements, and voche.me did not check them against City records.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, its Members of Council page and his Councillor profile, the Legislative Assembly of Ontario’s page for him (read through a summary tool), the City Clerk’s declaration of results for 2022, the home page and Endorsements page of his campaign website, The Local’s Ward 8 candidate page and The Green Line’s Ward 8 guide. His role comes from the City’s own pages and his Legislature service from the Legislature’s page. Every statement taken from his campaign website is written as the campaign’s own account. The sitting Ward 8 councillor is Mike Colle.

Gaps. The City’s decisions site refused every request (HTTP 403), so no recorded vote and no Council decision is cited. The Local describes his positions and motions, including on Lawrence Plaza, the Eglinton Crosstown inquiry and firearms. voche.me did not read those in the City’s records and does not repeat them. The Local also reports a November 2025 trip to Israel that he and Councillor James Pasternak took, with Israel paying part of the travel costs. voche.me looked for the councillors’ disclosure and the Integrity Commissioner’s record and could not read either, because TorontoToday’s report refused the request, so the trip is not described here. The Endorsements page was opened and is not cited, because it lists the endorsers the campaign chose to show. His Facebook page, linked from his website, returned no readable post text to a plain request. The questionnaire has not been sent.
