A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as May 26, 2026 and the campaign website matiasdedovitiis.ca. A Toronto District School Board notice of November 18, 2024 is signed Trustee Matias de Dovitiis, Ward 4, Humber River-Black Creek. The City Clerk’s declaration of results for October 24, 2022 lists Matias de Dovitiis first among 5 candidates for Toronto District School Board Ward 4, with 3,841 votes, marked elected. The 5 declared totals add up to 8,466 votes, so his share was 45.4 percent, calculated by voche.me from those figures. His campaign website says he was elected as the public school trustee in Humber River-Black Creek four years ago, which ties the Clerk’s entry to him. voche.me did not find a start date on the board’s own pages and gives none. The Local reports that his former ward has merged with Etobicoke North to form the new TDSB Ward 1, and that he and Dennis Hastings, the Etobicoke North incumbent, are competing for it. His website says the same, and adds that the province reduced the number of TDSB trustees from 22 to 12. The TDSB’s trustee wards page says that during provincial supervision the powers of trustees rest with the provincially appointed Supervisor, that trustees have no official duties with the board at this time, and that this also applies to trustees elected in October 2026. His campaign website says he was Vice-Chair of the board’s Finance Committee and fought cuts the Ministry of Education directed, until the province brought in a Supervisor. The Toronto and York Region Labour Council’s profile of him, which lists him among its endorsed Toronto trustee candidates, says he served as Vice-Chair of the Finance Committee for two years, and that he worked at City Hall for Councillor Anthony Perruzza, most recently as Chief of Staff, and was the first Executive Director of the DUKE Heights Business Improvement Area. These are the campaign’s and the Labour Council’s statements. voche.me did not check them against board minutes, City records or the BIA, so no vote is attributed to him. In The Local’s analysis of August 24, 2026, he says that if trustees return, even in a reduced role, they can call out what he sees as the province’s contradictions, and that “the worst thing \[about] supervision has been the secrecy.” Read the sources 02 / The issues ## Priorities & positions Campaign-source summary Summarized from the campaign’s published profile. His trustee role comes from the board’s own notice and the City Clerk’s results. The 2022 result belongs to the 2022 Ward 4 (Humber River-Black Creek) and is not treated as the same place as the new Ward 1. The 2022 City Clerk results show Dennis Hastings elected in the 2022 Ward 1 and Matias de Dovitiis elected in the 2022 Ward 4. The Local reports that both are competing for the new Ward 1. Every statement taken from his campaign website or the Labour Council is written as that source’s own account. His website’s Model Schools pages list funding cuts school by school. Those figures were not checked against board records and are not repeated. Gaps. No board minutes or recorded vote were opened. His committee roles, his City Hall and BIA roles and his awards come from his website and the Labour Council and were not checked with the board, the City or the BIA. His Facebook and X pages returned no readable posts, and his Instagram page was not opened. The questionnaire has not been sent.
