A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as August 21, 2026 and a campaign website, malikahmad.ca. Ward 10 covers Beaches-East York and Scarborough Southwest. His campaign website says he is a graduate of Seneca College, studied at Toronto Metropolitan University, owns an information technology consulting business, founded the International Indian Film Festival Toronto, and has previously sought elected office. Those are the campaign’s own statements. The Local’s profile of the 2023 Scarborough Southwest by-election candidates describes a Malik Ahmad as a small business owner and co-founder of the International Indian Film Festival Toronto, and says he came fifth of eight in the 2022 election and also ran in 2010, when The Local says he came third of 10. Because The Local names the race and the same festival, voche.me ties the City Clerk’s 2022 and 2023 entries below to him. voche.me did not open any 2010 results. The City Clerk’s results for October 24, 2022 list a Malik Ahmad fifth of 8 candidates for Councillor in Ward 20 Scarborough Southwest with 709 votes, and the Clerk’s results for the by-election of November 30, 2023 list him with 162 votes among 23 candidates. Both are City Councillor results. Scarborough Southwest is one of the two City wards that Ward 10 covers. The vote counts come from the City Clerk’s documents. The link between those entries and this candidate comes from The Local, which names the race and describes the same festival that his own website names. His education, business and festival roles come from his own website and are attributed to it. TDSB wards changed for 2026. Ward 10 covers City wards 19 and 20, which are Beaches-East York and Scarborough Southwest. The TDSB’s 2018 to 2022 trustee list names the old Ward 16 as Beaches-East York and the old Ward 18 as Scarborough Southwest. The City Clerk’s 2022 results show Michelle Aarts elected in the old Ward 16 and Malika Ghous elected in the old Ward 18. Those seats belong to the old wards and are not treated as seats in the new Ward 10. Beach Metro Community News reported on August 21, 2026 that Michelle Aarts registered for the new Ward 10 and withdrew her name on August 20, that the two old wards were merged into Ward 10, and that nine candidates are registered for it. voche.me found no current TDSB page that names the holder of the old Ward 18 seat, because the board’s ward pages loaded only the board’s home page, so that seat rests on the 2022 results alone. The TDSB’s trustee wards page says that during provincial supervision the powers of trustees rest with the provincially appointed Supervisor, that trustees have no official duties with the board at this time, and that this also applies to trustees elected in the October 2026 municipal election. Gaps. His Know Your Vote T.O. page lists no social account and shows its four questions as awaiting submission. No board minutes were opened, and no school or City seat is on record for him. The 2010 result in The Local’s profile was not checked against the City’s results. The questionnaire has not been sent.
