A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as August 18, 2026 and gives the campaign website joshthompsonformayor.ca. The site is signed “Authorized by Josh Thompson, candidate for Mayor of Toronto.” His campaign website says he is a comedian, that he studied business and marketing and then left to work in comedy, and that he does not have a long political history. These are his own statements, and voche.me did not confirm them. The Local also reports that he says he is a comedian. The website lists his platform in this order: violent crime, fiscal discipline for agencies, boards and Council, changing Sankofa Square back to Yonge and Dundas, taxes and spending, and housing. His written statement to Daily Bread Food Bank repeats violent crime, fiscal discipline, lower taxes and more homes. The campaign blog carries posts in his own voice. A post dated September 1, 2026 describes a series of street videos recorded at Grange Park. It quotes a caption reading “CHANGE MY MIND: WOMEN SHOULD NOT VOTE” and calls the 45 minute edit on his YouTube channel “pure unadulterated misogynistic banter.” The Local reports that he posts videos online describing himself as a racist and misogynist. A post dated September 23, 2026 says Canada should become part of the United States. voche.me did not watch the videos. His site also presents him as a comedian, and voche.me did not check how the videos are framed. [Josh Thompson for Mayor campaign website ](https://joshthompsonformayor.ca/) Research status ## What voche.me has checked Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, the home page and the blog of the campaign website he gave the City, The Local’s candidate page, Daily Bread Food Bank’s written statements page, and the CTV News Toronto Your 30 Seconds page for his candidacy. His plans come from his campaign website and are written here as his campaign’s proposals. Gaps. The CTV page holds a video that voche.me did not transcribe, so nothing from it is used. The YouTube channel showed only its title, the Instagram account showed a login page, and the X account showed only its profile line, so no post from those accounts was read. The videos described on the blog were not watched. No public role is on the profile. The questionnaire has not been sent.
