A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as July 14, 2026 and gives his campaign website, johnmarkoleh.ca. voche.me treats that site as the campaign's own statement. His campaign website says he grew up in Malvern, went to school in the community and played soccer and basketball in local parks. It gives no employment history and no education. The Local's tracker, updated September 21, 2026, says little information is available online about him and reports that a York University orientation slide shows him as Stong College Student Government president in 2023. voche.me did not see that slide, so it is The Local's account. His Priorities page lists four commitments: respect for every tax dollar, with published updates on how money is spent in the ward; transit, with more reliable and frequent TTC bus service and better bus shelters and lighting; healthcare, which the page describes as support for community healthcare partnerships, seniors' services, mental health and youth wellness, and accessible parks and public spaces; and Scarborough's fair share of investment in infrastructure, roads, parks and recreation. Build Canada's Ward 23 page records his answers to its questionnaire. He answered Yes to permitting more housing as of right in every ward, No to road pricing, No to raising additional local revenue for infrastructure repairs and Yes to publishing project-level budgets for major capital projects. On the greatest additional investment for public safety he chose "Police, bylaw enforcement and a more visible official presence", and on the greatest share of the next transit funding he chose new rapid-transit lines and extensions. These are his answers to a news organization's questionnaire. TTCriders' Ward 23 page lists no response from him to its transit questions.
