A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as June 11, 2026 and the campaign website gianpileri.ca. His website’s About section, the campaign’s own statement, says he has lived in Ward 11 since arriving in Canada and that Toronto has been his home for “about 15 years” in the site’s words, that he is a renter and a professional working in higher education, and that he speaks English, French and Italian. It describes his career as focused on education, technology, accessibility and organizational change. The Local’s Ward 11 tracker, updated as of September 21, 2026, names his employer as George Brown Polytechnic, where it says he is a technology specialist. voche.me did not check his employment with the college. The Local reports that he spoke at City Hall in July in support of cracking down on fraudulent evictions. His website’s Speaking Up page lists the same topic, a July 16, 2026 item before the Planning and Housing Committee, along with other written comments and talks to the TTC Board and the Toronto and East York Community Council. These are his own accounts of what he said. voche.me could not open the City’s decisions record (it returned HTTP 403), so none of these items is confirmed from the City. His priorities page says it is a starting point he will keep developing. It lists helping people afford to stay in Ward 11, keeping neighbourhoods clean, safe and well cared for, making it easier and safer to get around, managing growth and construction with more accountability, and making City Hall clearer. Examples include protecting existing rental housing, a public map of major construction in the ward and plain-language explanations of major local decisions. These are the campaign’s statements. [Gian Pileri · My Priorities ](https://gianpileri.ca/?page_id=83) Research status ## What voche.me has checked Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, its Members of Council page and the Ward 11 councillor’s profile, three pages of his campaign website (home, My Priorities and Speaking Up), The Local’s Ward 11 tracker and The Green Line’s Ward 11 guide. No public office is on record in his profile. Every statement taken from his campaign website is written as the campaign’s own account. The sitting Ward 11 councillor on the City’s Members of Council page is Dianne Saxe. The City’s candidate data records her as withdrawn from Ward 11 on August 21, 2026, and The Local and The Green Line report that she is running in Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth instead, so she is not on the Ward 11 ballot. The nine candidates for Ward 11 on the City’s list are Alice Li, Diana Yoon, Gian Pileri, Huy Lieu, Karina Lemke, Keenan Courtis, Mike Layton, Paul Viret and Terri Hawkes. Gaps. The City’s decisions site refused the request (HTTP 403), so his July 2026 appearances at City Hall and the TTC Board are known from his website and The Local only. His employment was not checked with George Brown Polytechnic. His Ward 11 and Get Involved pages and his social media accounts were not opened. No news report in which he speaks for himself was found. The questionnaire has not been sent.
