01 / Introduction

## About Devyn Stackhouse

Devyn Stackhouse appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as August 21, 2026 and the campaign website devynstackhouse.ca.

The campaign’s About page, the candidate’s own account, lists the candidate as an artist, author, “DEIA Micro Consultant” and University of Toronto service worker. It says Stackhouse was born and raised in rural New Brunswick, studied at Carleton University in Ottawa, has lived in Toronto for 6 years, and launched a micro consultancy named Cancel Proofed in the summer of 2026. It also says Stackhouse wrote a manuscript titled Black Glitter that is still unpublished, and was a member of the bargaining team for two unions, CUPE 1281 in 2010 and CUPE 3261 in 2023 and 2024. The Local says the website lists Stackhouse as an artist and writer and describes Cancel Proofed as a diversity, equity and inclusion micro-consultancy. voche.me did not check any of these with the university, the unions or a publisher.

The Why Devyn page says Stackhouse was involved with the Green Party while a student in Ottawa, and the About page says “I’m a Green”. The Statement of values page calls the candidate an “ethically-motivated liberal socialist”. These are the candidate’s own words. The campaign’s page on values says the City cannot solve many of the problems on Toronto’s streets because they belong to the provincial and federal governments.

The Platform page names four commitments it calls the Core 4: shade sails on the Danforth, fines for rule breaking that scale with the offender’s income, a by-law making harm to birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians a fineable offence of $15,000 that doubles on repeat offences, and replacing separate heritage permits with “visual identity standards”, which are set building-appearance rules enforced by fines. The page gives dollar figures for the income-scaled fines as examples only. It says the full policy collection would be published on October 1, 2026. The page lists three policy documents, on transit and the environment, on finance and intergovernmental relations, and on culture, housing and arts, as PDF files. voche.me did not open them. The Local gives the same four commitments.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, its Members of Council page and Councillor Fletcher’s profile page, four pages of the campaign website (About, Why Devyn, Platform and Statement of values) and The Local’s Ward 14 tracker. The sitting Ward 14 councillor on the City’s Members of Council page is Paula Fletcher, whose City profile page shows July 31, 2026 as its modification date. The City’s data shows her withdrawn from the Ward 14 race on August 19, 2026, and The Local says she is not seeking re-election. The 18 candidates for Ward 14 on the City’s list are Maqsood Ahmad, Susan Chapelle, Michael Connor, Dennis Corcoran, Robb Dagenais, Peter De Marco, Sara Ehrhardt, George Fawcett, Mary Fragedakis, John Kladitis, Michael Mitchell, Caryma Sa'd, Dianne Saxe, Devyn Stackhouse, Jason Stevens, Christiane Tetreault, Maria Voutsinas and Denise Walcott. The Local says Robb Dagenais announced on September 7 that he is withdrawing, and that his name stays on the ballot. Every statement taken from the campaign website is written as the campaign’s own account.

Gaps. The three policy documents linked from the Platform page are PDF files and were not opened, so only the Core 4 commitments are used. The About and Why Devyn pages also describe the candidate’s health and housing history. Those are private and are left out. Social media accounts named on the site were not opened. No 2026 debate or all-candidates meeting for the ward was found. The questionnaire has not been sent.
