01 / Introduction

## About Denise Walcott

Denise Walcott appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as August 17, 2026 and the campaign website votewalcott.com.

The City Clerk’s declaration of results for the October 24, 2022 general election lists a Denise Walcott fourth among 5 candidates for Councillor in Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth, with 1,740 votes. Paula Fletcher was elected with 20,305. The 5 declared totals add up to 27,433 votes, so the entry’s share was 6.3 percent, calculated by voche.me from those figures. The City’s document gives only a name. The Local’s Ward 14 tracker says Denise Walcott ran for council in Ward 14 in 2022 and placed fourth out of five candidates, and the Toronto Observer’s report of October 6, 2022 on the five candidates for the seat names Denise Walcott, so those sources tie the entry to her.

Her campaign’s candidate information page, the campaign’s own statement, says she is a business owner and marketing manager and a member of two condominium boards, one of which she leads as president. It says she brings experience reviewing budgets and financial statements, managing major projects and working with contracts and service providers. The Local says she describes herself as a business owner and condo board president and mentions marketing experience. voche.me did not check these roles.

The campaign page lists eight priorities: affordability and responsible spending, housing people can afford, safer streets and better ways to move, helping seniors live safely and independently, opportunities for young people, supporting local businesses, protecting the waterfront and green spaces, and community safety and everyday services. It says that if elected she will answer emails within 48 hours, hold quarterly town halls, offer regular in-person office hours and publish progress updates. NOW Toronto reported the 48-hour, town hall and public tracking commitments on August 21, 2026. The Local reports that she wants to expand the City’s Home Ownership Assistance Program, create a Toronto-Danforth Community Safety Table, pilot free and low-cost after-school programs and oppose the proposed expansion of the Billy Bishop airport.

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, its Members of Council page and Councillor Fletcher’s profile page, the City Clerk’s declaration of results for 2022, the candidate information page of her campaign website, NOW Toronto’s Ward 14 report, the Toronto Observer’s 2022 report on the Ward 14 race and The Local’s Ward 14 tracker. The sitting Ward 14 councillor on the City’s Members of Council page is Paula Fletcher, whose City profile page shows July 31, 2026 as its modification date. The City’s data shows her withdrawn from the Ward 14 race on August 19, 2026, and The Local says she is not seeking re-election. The 18 candidates for Ward 14 on the City’s list are Maqsood Ahmad, Susan Chapelle, Michael Connor, Dennis Corcoran, Robb Dagenais, Peter De Marco, Sara Ehrhardt, George Fawcett, Mary Fragedakis, John Kladitis, Michael Mitchell, Caryma Sa'd, Dianne Saxe, Devyn Stackhouse, Jason Stevens, Christiane Tetreault, Maria Voutsinas and Denise Walcott. The Local says Robb Dagenais announced on September 7 that he is withdrawing, and that his name stays on the ballot. Every statement taken from her campaign website is written as the campaign’s own account.

Gaps. The pages of her campaign website named About, Meet Denise and Platform draw their text with JavaScript and returned no text to this reader, so only the candidate information page, which summarises them, is used. The page also mentions her parents’ business, which is left out. NOW Toronto was read through a summary tool, and its summary is saved with that label. Her social media accounts were not opened. No 2026 debate or all-candidates meeting for the ward was found. The questionnaire has not been sent.
