A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as July 14, 2026 and the campaign website davidfortoronto.ca. His website’s About pages, the campaign’s own statement, say he has lived in Willowdale all his life and that he has built and operated several businesses, including online companies that employed dozens of people and businesses he sold. The Local’s tracker says that on Instagram he describes himself as a small business owner and that his LinkedIn page lists him as general manager of a restaurant. voche.me did not check any of these business claims with a registry or with the businesses. His Platform page names five priorities for the first year of a term: a better process for development, restoring minimum parking requirements for new developments, a motion directing transit peace officers to use new provincial powers on drug use in transit, an abstinence-only focus for addiction treatment together with a motion to end distribution of safe-use kits in City shelter facilities while keeping naloxone, and a reversal of the councillor pay increase. These are the campaign’s statements. His Platform page says Toronto City Council voted in March 2025 to raise councillor pay from $137,537 to $170,588 a year, and that Willowdale Councillor Lily Cheng voted for the increase. That is his campaign’s claim. The City’s decisions site refused the request (HTTP 403), so voche.me did not read the City’s record of the vote and does not state how any member voted. These are stated positions, not an assessment of results or a complete platform. 01 ### Safer communities, as his campaign states His Issues page says he will work with Toronto Police and community partners on visible patrols and response times, push treatment and supportive housing before encampments, and tackle repeat vandalism and theft against small businesses. [David Magazzinich · Issues ](https://www.davidfortoronto.ca/issues) 02 ### Lower taxes and audited spending, as his campaign states His Issues page says every program should be regularly reviewed and that he will advocate for budgeting that avoids tax increases. His Platform page says a motion to reverse the councillor pay increase will be among the first he brings forward. [David Magazzinich · Platform ](https://www.davidfortoronto.ca/platform) 03 ### Development and parking, as his campaign states His Platform page says he will explore guidelines for what residents can expect from the City and developers when a development is approved, and will push to restore minimum parking requirements for new developments. [David Magazzinich · Platform ](https://www.davidfortoronto.ca/platform) 04 ### Drug use and treatment, as his campaign states His Platform page says he will bring a motion on transit peace officers using new provincial powers, and a motion to end the distribution of safe-use kits in City shelter facilities while keeping overdose medication such as naloxone. [David Magazzinich · Platform ](https://www.davidfortoronto.ca/platform) Research status ## What voche.me has checked Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates and Members of Council page, four pages of his campaign website (home, About, Platform and Issues), The Local’s Ward 18 tracker, Build Canada’s Ward 18 page, TTCriders’ Ward 18 page and The Green Line’s list of ward debates. No public office is on record in his profile. Every statement taken from his campaign website is written as the campaign’s own account. Ward context. The sitting Ward 18 councillor on the City’s Members of Council page is Lily Cheng, who is also a candidate. The 6 candidates for Ward 18 on the City’s list are Lily Cheng, Nicole Daneshvar, David Magazzinich, Hamid Shakeri, Nathan Yusifov and Ardeshir Zarezade. The City Clerk’s 2022 results for Ward 18 list 4 candidates: Lily Cheng (8,337 votes, elected), Markus O’Brien Fehr (6,709), Daniel Lee (4,617) and Elham Shahban (318). Of the other five 2026 candidates, none appears by name anywhere in the Clerk’s 2022 declaration of results. Build Canada’s Ward 18 page says no candidate had answered its questionnaire, and TTCriders’ page records no response from any of the five candidates it lists for the 18 questions it asked. The Green Line’s list of ward debates names none for Ward 18. A name search returned a mention of an all-candidates debate registration for Ward 18, but the page carrying it was not opened, so voche.me states no date, host or attendance. Gaps. The City’s decisions site refused the request (HTTP 403), so the pay vote his site describes is not checked. The Local’s tracker also quotes his social media on people who use drugs in public, and describes a past business sale. voche.me did not read those posts or the business record and leaves both out. His Instagram profile opened and returned only a summary, so nothing from it is used, and his X and Facebook accounts were not opened. Build Canada’s page lists no questionnaire answers from him, and TTCriders’ page records no response from him. The questionnaire has not been sent.
