01 / Introduction

## About Cory Deville

Cory Deville appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Mayor. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as May 1, 2026. His campaign website, which is the address he gave the City, is called DEVILLE2026 and describes a “People First Platform in Partnership with Local Business”.

In an introduction on his website he says he is a University of Toronto graduate with a focus on philosophy and minor studies in political science and economics, and that he spent 15 years in the small to medium business space working with startups and high-growth companies on business development, management consulting, strategy and sales. These are his own statements, and voche.me has not checked them against another source.

The City's declarations of results list Cory Deville with 1,142 votes in the 2022 mayoral election and 96 votes in the 2023 mayoral by-election, where he was listed 85th of 102 candidates and tied at 96 votes with one other candidate. The Local says this candidate ran in both races.

The Local reports that he has reserved the names of several political parties in the past, including The Deville Party of Ontario and Fair Equity Ontario. NOW Toronto reports that he is involved in provincial politics through Fair Equity Ontario, a party he began scaling in 2022, and his website links a Fair Equity Ontario page that announces a new political party and asks visitors to sign up.

The Local also reports that he criticized Mayor Olivia Chow as “prioritizing asylum seekers over the people of Toronto” after a 2.2 percent property tax increase, and that after a shooting at a St. Clair Avenue street festival in July he blamed Chow, Brad Bradford and City Council as a whole. voche.me did not open those posts and relies on The Local.

## Priorities & positions

Campaign-source summary

Summarized from the campaign’s published profile. These are stated positions, not an assessment of results or a complete platform.

01

### Rent tied to local income

His website proposes that the City use its buildings and lending to make rent match what people in each area earn. It says Toronto would convert under-used City buildings to homes, build low-rise rental buildings of 10 storeys or fewer, and partner with Toronto developers who agree to set rent at the middle household income of the area and to cap increases for 10 years.

The post says the City would pay 5 to 20 percent of a project's cost in return for a share of the project, or lend 5 to 25 percent of the cost at 0 percent interest.

The post states a total commitment of $1.9 billion, or 10 percent of the City's $19 billion operating budget.

A later post of August 17 lists five approaches: convert, buy, build, partner and finance. It adds that the City would buy two- and three-storey houses and convert them into small self-contained rental units.

### How policies would be paid for

His website says all of his policies fit inside the City's $19 billion operating budget. It describes ranking the top 30 issues, setting a percentage of the budget for each, and piloting each policy in three wards before widening it once set targets are met.

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto's list of certified candidates, the home page, Policy page, Blog page and Fair Equity Ontario page of the campaign website he gave the City, six of its posts (the introduction, the registration notice, the rental affordability posts of August 4 and August 17, the financing policy and the vertical farms policy), the profile line of his TikTok account, a NOW Toronto article of August 20, 2026, The Local's candidate page and the City's declarations of results for 2022 and 2023. His plans come from his campaign website and NOW Toronto and are written here as his campaign's proposals.

Gaps. NOW Toronto refused the saved-page tool, so the article was read through the WebFetch tool, which returned a summary with direct quotations and not the full text. The Instagram address on his website showed only a login page, and his TikTok videos were not watched, so no social media post is used. The Green Line interview listed on his blog, the Volunteer and Contact pages and The Local's two quotations about Mayor Chow were not opened. His education, work history and the party name reservations were not checked with the university, an employer or Elections Ontario. His cost figures are his own and were not checked against the City's budget. The questionnaire has not been sent.
