01 / Introduction

## About Anthony Perruzza

Anthony Perruzza appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 7 Humber River-Black Creek. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as July 30, 2026 and the campaign website voteanthonyperruzza.com.

The City’s Members of Council page lists Councillor Anthony Perruzza for Humber River-Black Creek. His City profile says he was a trustee of the Metro Toronto Separate School Board from 1985 to 1988, a North York councillor from 1988 to 1990 and a Member of Provincial Parliament from 1990 to 1995, and that he was the City Councillor for Ward 8 from 2006 until 2018, when he was elected to the new Ward 7, and was re-elected in 2022. The profile ends with the line “Information provided by the Councillor”, so these dates are his own account, published on the City’s page. The page shows the date modified as March 5, 2025. It lists his committees and boards as the Board of Health, the Infrastructure and Environment Committee, the Exhibition Place Board of Governors, the Toronto Community Housing Corporation Board of Directors, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority Partners in Project Green Executive Management Committee and the Hockey Hall of Fame Board of Directors.

The Legislative Assembly of Ontario’s page for Anthony Perruzza lists the riding Downsview and the party New Democratic Party of Ontario, with service from September 6, 1990 (general election) to June 7, 1995 (not re-elected). voche.me read that page through a summary tool, because a direct request was refused.

The City Clerk’s declaration of results for the October 24, 2022 general election lists Anthony Perruzza first among 3 candidates for Councillor in Ward 7 Humber River-Black Creek, with 8,707 votes, marked elected. Christopher Mammoliti was second with 3,215 and Amanda Coombs third with 2,282. The 3 declared totals add up to 14,204 votes, so his share was 61.3 percent and Mammoliti’s was 22.6 percent, calculated by voche.me from those figures.

Two news reports describe a motion he brought in 2026. CP24 reported on March 13, 2026 that he proposed four city-run, not-for-profit grocery stores, one in each community council district. Yahoo News Canada reported, in an article updated March 27, 2026, that Council approved the pilot he proposed, 21 to 3, and named Councillors Brad Bradford, Jon Burnside and Stephen Holyday as the three opposed. These counts and names are the outlet’s. voche.me could not open the City’s decisions record to confirm the vote.

His campaign website says he came to Canada at age nine, that he has served more than 30 years as a school trustee, Member of Provincial Parliament and City Councillor, and that he has worked on roads, parks, rental housing repairs and seniors’ tax and utility rebates. It lists a new community centre near Weston and Sheppard, a skate trail at Fountainhead Park, a music school behind York Woods Library and mini soccer pitches at Apted and Grandravine Parks. These are the campaign’s statements, and voche.me did not check them against City records.

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, its Members of Council page and his Councillor profile, the Legislative Assembly of Ontario’s page for him (read through a summary tool), the City Clerk’s declaration of results for 2022, the home page and Meet Anthony page of his campaign website, CP24’s report of March 13, 2026, Yahoo News Canada’s report on the Council vote, The Local’s Ward 7 candidate page, The Green Line’s Ward 7 guide and the Downsview Advocate’s 2026 candidate summary. His role comes from the City’s own pages and his Legislature service from the Legislature’s page. Every statement taken from his campaign website is written as the campaign’s own account. The sitting Ward 7 councillor is Anthony Perruzza.

Gaps. The City’s decisions site refused every request (HTTP 403), so no recorded vote and no Council decision is cited from the City. The grocery store vote comes from Yahoo News Canada’s article. The Local describes other motions and votes, including a Black youth employment strategy, drinking water results and a request to use $400 million from a City reserve fund. voche.me did not read those in the City’s records and does not repeat them. His X account, linked from his website, loads a page with no readable post text. The questionnaire has not been sent.
