01 / Introduction

## About Andrew Massey

Andrew Massey appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Toronto District School Board in Ward 5. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as June 30, 2026 and a campaign website, votemassey.ca.

His campaign website says he is a renter and long-time resident of the Grange Park neighbourhood, a voting member of the School Council at Ogden Junior Public School and an elected member of the Board of Directors of University Settlement. It says he is a technical writer on public rail infrastructure projects and was formerly a high school English teacher in Japan. voche.me did not check these statements with the organizations named.

The Green Party of Canada announced him on February 12, 2026 as its candidate in University-Rosedale for an expected federal by-election, which is a vote held to fill a vacant seat between regular elections. A party release of April 15, 2026 thanks him among the candidates who represented the party in the recent by-elections. The VoteMate site lists him as the Green candidate for Toronto Centre in the 2025 Ontario election, with a biography it says the candidate or his team submitted. The vote counts were not read from an official results document, so none are given. Toronto municipal candidates have no party on the ballot, so this record states the Green candidacies as his past campaigns, in the party’s words.

In his Know Your Vote T.O. answers he calls for reversing provincial cuts to special education and model school funding, says trustees should address discrimination with better policy and restorative practices, and says he would prioritize a proportional allocation model for specialized program seats.

TDSB wards changed for 2026. Ward 5 covers City wards 10 (Spadina-Fort York) and 14 (Toronto-Danforth). The City Clerk’s declaration of results for October 24, 2022 shows Alexis Dawson elected in the old Ward 9 and Sara Ehrhardt elected in the old Ward 15, and the TDSB’s trustee list for 2018 to 2022 names the old Ward 9 as Davenport and Spadina-Fort York and the old Ward 15 as Toronto-Danforth. Those results belong to the old wards and are not treated as results for the new Ward 5. The TDSB’s trustee wards page says that during provincial supervision the powers of trustees rest with the provincially appointed Supervisor, that trustees have no official duties with the board at this time, and that this also applies to trustees elected in October 2026.

## Priorities & positions

Campaign-source summary

Summarized from the campaign’s published profile. These are stated positions, not an assessment of results or a complete platform.

01

### Fund our schools

His website says the province’s cuts under supervision hurt downtown communities, and that as trustee he would press for reversing special education and model school cuts, a funding formula based on student needs, and opposition to school closures and sales.

02

### Respect families

His website says he would regularly call for repeal of Bill 33, hold monthly town halls and publish plain-language explanations of board and budget decisions.

03

### Build community

His website lists dedicated on-site administrators, reinstated class size caps, more educational assistants and special needs staff, training in restorative practices, and removal of the uniformed School Resource Officer program.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, his campaign website, his Know Your Vote T.O. page, two Green Party of Canada pages, his VoteMate page, the TDSB’s trustee wards page, the City Clerk’s 2022 declaration of results and the TDSB’s 2018 to 2022 trustee list. A campaign never verifies itself, so his biography is attributed to his website and his Green Party candidacies to the party’s own pages. The party pages are the party’s statements about its own candidate.

A search also returned a third-party page saying a person of this name ran in the 2018 Ward 10 council race. voche.me did not read the City’s 2018 results document, so no 2018 result is given.

Gaps. His Know Your Vote T.O. page lists Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts. The Instagram page opened as a login page and the Facebook page showed only its title, “Andrew Massey - TDSB Ward 5 Trustee Candidate”, so nothing from them is used. He holds no public role on record, so no board minutes were searched. His website makes statements about provincial cuts and the board’s budget, and those are his campaign’s claims, not checked here. No news report quoting him on the trustee race was found. The questionnaire has not been sent.

### Green Party of Canada candidate, University-Rosedale federal by-election

The Green Party of Canada announced him on February 12, 2026 as its candidate for the expected by-election, and a release of April 15, 2026 thanks him as one of its by-election candidates. The party release says the Green Party passed 2 percent of the vote in both Greater Toronto Area ridings and gives no result for him alone, so voche.me gives none.
