Ottawa marks Remembrance Day on Wednesday, November 11, with the national ceremony at the National War Memorial and local ceremonies in communities across the city, CTV News reported. Downtown roads will close and 13 OC Transpo routes will run on detours through the morning.

## National ceremony at the War Memorial

The National Remembrance Day Ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. at the National War Memorial. A 21-gun salute will be fired from the east side of Parliament Hill, near the Rideau Canal, at 11 a.m., CTV News reported. CTV will broadcast the ceremony live; the Royal Canadian Legion will stream it on its Facebook page.

This year's Silver Cross Mother is Virginia Hicks, who lost her daughter, Sapper Mariebeth Short, age 22, in a training accident at CFB Petawawa in 2002. She will lay a wreath at the memorial on behalf of every Canadian mother who has lost a child in military service, according to CTV News.
