[Erin Coffin](/on/ottawa-2026/candidates/erin-coffin) won the Kanata South council seat on October 26, defeating four-term incumbent [Allan Hubley](/on/ottawa-2026/candidates/allan-hubley), one of three new faces heading to Ottawa City Hall after the 2026 municipal election, CTV News Ottawa reported.

Coffin received 49.7 per cent of the vote, compared to 33 per cent for Hubley, according to CTV News Ottawa. Hubley had held the Kanata South seat since 2010 and won four consecutive elections before Monday's result. Coffin told CTV News Ottawa she was "happy and overwhelmed" after the vote.

"For a long time, I found we don't know what's going on," Coffin said. "We don't understand why City Hall is doing what they're doing and how the decisions are being made. Trying to bring people in a lot earlier for those solutions is what I want to do."

## Two other open seats

[Joanne Chianello](/on/ottawa-2026/candidates/joanne-chianello) won the Kitchissippi ward seat with 65 per cent of the vote, according to CTV News Ottawa. Chianello, a former journalist who spent 13 years covering Ottawa City Hall for CBC, succeeds [Jeff Leiper](/on/ottawa-2026/candidates/jeff-leiper), who gave up the seat to run for mayor and finished second in that race.

"I'm looking forward to getting things done," Chianello told CTV News Ottawa. "Yes, I am an independent voice, but I'm also collaborative." She said transit is her top priority.

[Chelsea Walton](/on/ottawa-2026/candidates/chelsea-walton) won the Stittsville seat with 43.7 per cent of the vote in a nine-candidate race, according to CTV News Ottawa. She told CTV News Ottawa she is "unbelievably happy" to be elected.

## Twenty-one incumbents returned

The other 21 council seats went to incumbent councillors. Laine Johnson won College ward with 92 per cent of the vote, the largest margin of any ward in the election, CTV News Ottawa reported. Two councillors, Riley Brockington in River ward and David Brown in Rideau-Jock, ran without any registered challengers.

The City of Ottawa says official results will be published by October 30. You can follow coverage at [/on/ottawa-2026/news](/on/ottawa-2026/news).
