Ottawa's City Clerk officially certified the October 26 municipal election results on Friday, closing the books on the 2026 race. Newly released ward-by-ward data from the City of Ottawa, reported by CTV News Ottawa, shows [Mark Sutcliffe](/on/ottawa-2026/candidates/mark-sutcliffe) was the top choice for mayor in 20 of the city's 24 wards.

[Jeff Leiper](/on/ottawa-2026/candidates/jeff-leiper) won four wards: Rideau-Vanier, Somerset, Kitchissippi and Capital Ward. His wins in Somerset and Kitchissippi were large, with CTV reporting margins of 5,825 votes and 3,984 votes respectively. In Capital Ward, Leiper received 6,925 votes, compared to 3,596 for Sutcliffe and 2,213 for [Neil Saravanamuttoo](/on/ottawa-2026/candidates/neil-saravanamuttoo).

Two of Sutcliffe's ward wins were close. CTV reports he carried Bay ward by 77 votes and River ward by 104 votes.

## The vote totals across the city

Sutcliffe won the city with 44.65 per cent of the vote, according to CTV. Leiper received 33.9 per cent, Saravanamuttoo 11 per cent, and [Alex Lawson](/on/ottawa-2026/candidates/alex-lawson) 7.56 per cent.

The Special Advance Voting Days contributed 14,223 ballots to Sutcliffe's total, compared to 8,165 for Leiper, CTV reports. Mail-in ballot numbers were closer: 1,393 for Sutcliffe, 1,043 for Leiper, and 255 for Saravanamuttoo.

CTV reports that Lawson was the third-choice for mayor, rather than Saravanamuttoo, in four suburban and rural wards: Orleans East-Cumberland, West Carleton-March, Osgoode and Rideau-Jock.

## Turnout was the lowest in 23 years

CTV reports voter turnout city-wide was 36.2 per cent, the lowest figure in 23 years for an Ottawa municipal election. Kitchissippi and Capital wards, both won by Leiper, had the highest turnout of any ward. CTV reports 46.68 per cent of eligible voters in Kitchissippi cast a ballot, and 44.1 per cent in Capital Ward.

Sutcliffe won 20 of 24 wards this time, up from 19 of 24 in the 2022 election.
