Elections Ottawa counted 59,039 ballots on Advance Voting Day on Friday, Oct. 16, as the 2026 municipal election enters its final week before Election Day on Oct. 26. CTV News Ottawa reported the figures, citing data from Elections Ottawa.

Oct. 16 was the only Advance Voting Day offered this year, and it was also the fifth and final early voting opportunity following four Special Advance Voting Days held at 10 polling locations during the first week of October.

## Ward-by-ward turnout varied

Among Ottawa's 24 wards, Bay Ward ([Ward 7](/on/ottawa-2026/races/councillor/ward-7-bay)) recorded the highest Advance Voting Day turnout, with 4,215 electors casting ballots. Barrhaven East ([Ward 24](/on/ottawa-2026/races/councillor/ward-24-barrhaven-east)) had the lowest, at 1,401 ballots.

CTV News Ottawa did not publish a full ward-by-ward breakdown. Bay Ward and Barrhaven East represent the top and bottom of the range as reported in the article. Bay Ward sits in the west end of the urban core and has multiple polling locations; results for all 24 wards will be final after Election Day on Oct. 26.

## Early voting adds up

The four Special Advance Voting Days in early October drew a combined 27,553 ballots, according to Elections Ottawa. Added to the 59,039 cast on Oct. 16, that brings total early votes to 86,592 before Election Day.

For comparison, Ottawa held two Advance Voting Days in 2022. The first drew 26,773 voters and the second drew 33,842.

## Who can still vote

As of Sept. 20, 2026, Ottawa had 868,248 eligible voters, according to the City. Anyone who did not vote early can still cast a ballot on Election Day: Monday, Oct. 26, 2026. Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at assigned ward locations.

Voters choose a mayor, a councillor for their ward, and school board trustees. Candidate information for the mayor race and all 24 wards is at [/on/ottawa-2026/candidates](/on/ottawa-2026/candidates).
