Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in Zone 9 · Ottawa 2026

# Scott Dutrisac

Candidate for Ottawa-Carleton District School Board trustee in Zone 9; his campaign describes him as a professional engineer and former theatre technical director who is running independently of any group of candidates.

Scott Dutrisac is on the City of Ottawa’s list of certified candidates for Ottawa-Carleton District School Board trustee in Zone 9, which covers City Wards 17 and 18, with a nomination dated May 15, 2026. His campaign website says he is a professional engineer who lives in Ward 18 (Alta Vista), began his career in theatre production and holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Carleton University. Carleton’s own news item of November 16, 2020 confirms the degree and a 2020 Senate Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement. His site names four themes (participate, protect, prepare, parents and families) and says he chose to stay independent of a group of candidates who share a statement of principles. The board has been under provincial supervision since June 27, 2025.

01 / Introduction

## About Scott Dutrisac

The City of Ottawa’s list of certified candidates shows Scott Dutrisac’s nomination for trustee of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in Zone 9 dated May 15, 2026. The City’s open data file shows no withdrawal. The other candidates in the zone are Hilary Clauson and Sergio DeFranco. The City list gives him a campaign website and a Facebook page. The Leveller named him on July 24, 2026 among the newcomer candidates for Zone 9, and CTV News Ottawa links his site in its guide of September 9, 2026.

His campaign site says he lives in Ward 18 (Alta Vista) and is a Professional Engineer working for a technology company in Kanata. It says he started in theatre production and was technical director of a Toronto-based university theatre for a number of years, then moved to mechanical engineering at Carleton University, which led to a master’s degree where he researched the mechanics of traumatic brain injury. The site links a Carleton news item of November 16, 2020, which names Scott Dutrisac as a Master of Applied Science graduate and a recipient of a 2020 Senate Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement. In that item he describes his research on how the head and brain respond to impact, says he was elected President of the Carleton Mechanical and Aerospace Society in his third and fourth undergraduate years, and says he planned to continue at the PhD level. His site does not mention a PhD. His engineering licence and his theatre post are his own statements and were not checked.

The site states his values as support for Indigenous rights, 2SLGBTQI+ inclusion, special education and a welcoming environment for newcomers, and says he wants transparency, responsibility and inclusion. Under the headings Participate, Protect, Prepare and Parents and Families it calls for access to extracurricular activities and the arts, attention to students’ mental and physical health in well-maintained schools, teaching that builds critical thinking, and open communication with families.

In an update dated August 29, 2026 he wrote that a member of a group of similarly aligned candidates asked him to sign a shared statement of principles. He wrote that he supports its positions as he understands them, which he described as bringing voice back to local communities, ending provincial supervision, and funding for student supports, teachers and educational assistants, and that he chose to stay independent because a trustee is accountable to a local community. He linked the Ottawa Citizen article of August 27, 2026 about the group, which names eight signers. He is not among the eight it names. In an update of August 13, 2026 he wrote that the provincial takeover in 2025 reduced accountability and teacher morale, and that local voices should be heard. An update dated October 2 invited neighbours to meet him at a market in Alta Vista on October 3, from 9 am to 11 am.

The board’s page says that since June 27, 2025 the board has been under supervision by the Minister of Education, and that decisions normally made by trustees are made by the appointed Supervisor, Robert Plamondon. The sources read hold no complaint or allegation about him.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 7, 2026: the City’s list of certified candidates for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (an Internet Archive copy) and its open data file of nominations, his campaign website (a single page that holds the About, Values and Updates sections), the Carleton University news item of November 16, 2020 that his site links, the Ottawa Citizen article of August 27, 2026, The Leveller of July 24, 2026, the CTV News Ottawa list of September 9, 2026, and the board’s page on supervision.

Gaps. His Facebook page needs a login, so nothing from it was used. His professional engineer licence, his job and his years in theatre are his own statements and were not checked. The Ottawa Citizen article is behind a subscriber wall in part, and only the readable text was used. No news report that quotes him was found. He holds no public office on the record voche.me read. The voche.me questionnaire has not been sent.
