Karwacki The City’s list of certified candidates shows Peter J. Karwacki’s nomination for Councillor in Ward 13 Rideau-Rockcliffe dated May 1, 2026. It lists a website, an X account and a YouTube channel for him, and gives no date for a Contribution Rebate Program registration. CBC News of August 25, 2026 describes him as a project manager who vied for the seat in the 2019 byelection and the 2022 municipal election, and CTV News Ottawa says he also ran for council in 2022. The City’s published results for the October 24, 2022 election list a Peter Jan Karwacki with 716 of the 10,593 votes cast in Ward 13, which is 6.8 percent, third in a race of four candidates; the winner was Rawlson King with 8,491. His campaign blog carries the byline Peter Jan Karwacki. CBC News of March 1, 2019 says that in the byelection he told the paper he had been an administrator for three unspecified hospitals and had sat on a school board for three years. In the CTV News Ottawa questionnaire he gives his age as 70 and says he has lived in Ottawa for 30 years. He lists his professional experience as project manager, hospital administrator and data analyst, and his political experience as past candidate. A table on his campaign blog gives a longer list: more than 20 years in senior project management for named federal departments and IBM, a former hospital chief executive and administrator who managed budgets of more than $12 million, and a Bachelor of Science in biology. These are his own statements, and voche.me has not checked them with any employer, school or professional body. He says he has committed to serve one term. On his campaign blog he writes that this removes the reason to please loud groups in order to be re-elected. The blog posts of July 3 and August 28, 2026 argue that the ward needs a councillor who is good at oversight and who reads budgets line by line, and they criticize Councillor King, including for his handling of sidewalks in Manor Park. Those criticisms are the candidate’s own statements about an opponent. voche.me checked the Council vote on the sidewalk motion in CBC News reporting, and the blog’s other claims about King were not checked. In the NCR NOW questions he says he would sit on the transit committee, hold major transit launches to real testing before they open, turn the City’s 311 service into a tool that shows project and service information by location, ask for an annual independent audit of police database access, and warn residents about the City’s long-term liabilities, including the financing of Lansdowne 2.0. He says he has documented more than $400 million in affordable housing funding that the City was eligible for and had not drawn down. That figure is his own and was not checked.
