01 / Introduction

## About Nicholas Gollé

The City of Ottawa’s list of certified candidates shows Nicholas Gollé’s nomination for Councillor in Ward 14 Somerset dated August 10, 2026, and shows him not registered in the Contribution Rebate Program. The City’s list of elected officials for 2022 to 2026 does not include him. The City’s list shows no withdrawal and no nomination for another office. CBC News describes him as an IT specialist in the federal public service with an education in computer engineering. The Centretown BUZZ reported on August 19, 2026 that it could not contact him for its first questions because he had given the City no contact information, and it later published his answers to its other questions.

In his CBC News, CTV News Ottawa and NCR Now answers he says he grew up in South Keys and Greely, has lived in Somerset Ward for eight years, holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Carleton University, worked for two years in construction and has worked for eight years in information technology in the public service. His campaign website says he has worked in the public service since 2018. He told CTV News Ottawa that he has no political experience and that this is his first run for office. voche.me did not check his degree or his employment. The sources voche.me read state no party membership for him, and the City does not record one.

His campaign website opens with the message “We need to work together” and describes a style of politics that explains costs and compromises. It lists six areas of focus: housing and homelessness, safety and wellbeing, mobility and access, economy and local prosperity, community, culture and place, and ecology and resilience. It promises that within his first nine months in office he would create a public registry of the input constituents send his office, a map of problem spaces, a public record of his own changing understanding of those problems, and a public record of his ongoing work. In the CBC News questionnaire he names the renewal of core infrastructure as the biggest challenge, would not set a maximum tax increase in advance, and favours a transit levy. He gave no answer to the question whether the police budget should be increased, and says the Ottawa Police Service should present options for reducing its long-term operating costs. He told CTV News Ottawa that he would decrease transit fares, would support a police budget increase, and supports an infrastructure levy.

He told The BUZZ that he supports permanent supportive housing, citing early first-year data from Dunn House in Toronto, that he would not seek a seat on the Ottawa Police Service Board, that he would not tie the police budget to the size of the overall City budget increase, and that he might support City help for the new NHL arena only after seeing a specific proposal. These are his own statements, and he describes the Dunn House figures as preliminary. The sources voche.me read hold no complaint about him.
