Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in Zone 5 · Ottawa 2026

# Natasha Lynn Mott

Parent, school council volunteer and community association member, by her own account, running for Ottawa-Carleton District School Board trustee in Zone 5, and one of eight candidates who signed a shared statement against provincial supervision.

Natasha Lynn Mott is on the City of Ottawa’s list of certified candidates for Ottawa-Carleton District School Board trustee in Zone 5, which covers City Wards 8 and 9, with a nomination dated June 26, 2026. Her campaign website says her advocacy began as a parent in special education meetings and as a volunteer on school councils, and its priorities are support for students with special needs, support for educators and families, fair funding and transparency. CBC News and the Ottawa Citizen report that she is one of eight candidates who signed a shared statement calling for an end to provincial supervision. The board has been under provincial supervision since June 27, 2025, so a Supervisor makes the decisions that trustees would make.

01 / Introduction

## About Natasha Lynn Mott

The City of Ottawa’s list of certified candidates shows Natasha Lynn Mott’s nomination for trustee of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in Zone 5 dated June 26, 2026. The City’s open data file shows no withdrawal. The other candidates in the zone are Suzanne Lyon and Lara Bremner. The City list gives her a campaign website.

Her website says her advocacy started in classrooms, hallways and at Individual Education Plan and Identification, Placement and Review Committee meetings, which are the meetings where a school plans support for a student with special needs. It says she was co-chair of a school council at the elementary level and co-secretary at the intermediate and high school level in the past school year, and that she has volunteered in schools and the community for years. It describes her as a mother of two and an active volunteer in schools and the community, and says she is running because the school board and the government can do better. These are her own statements, and voche.me has not checked them with the schools.

Her Priorities page lists four themes. Student well-being and inclusive schools: she says students with special needs placed in inclusion models without proper support lose learning time, and she promises to advocate for the resources and professional support students need. Support for educators and families: she cites years of underfunding and promises to work with teachers and families. Fair and responsible funding: a balanced budget that puts classroom needs and equity first. Transparency and communication: working with fellow trustees and the executive team so that local views reach the board.

Her home page asks how parents can be expected to trust the government when trustees are denied a place in decisions, and says votes should matter in a democracy. Her Meet Natasha text says she believes trustees can work with the Ministry-appointed Supervisor, Robert Plamondon, if the focus is on respectful relationships. CBC News reported on July 23, 2026 that she said she remains an optimist, believes trustees will have a voice again, and hopes the Supervisor will meet whoever wins a mandate. CBC also reported that she said she probably lost money in her time serving on family school councils, so a small trustee honorarium would be nothing new.

CBC News reported on August 27, 2026 that she is one of eight candidates, each in a different zone, who signed a shared statement of principles calling for an immediate end to the board’s provincial supervision. The Ottawa Citizen quoted her saying that a group of people working toward something is better than standing alone, and that if she is elected she would already know people at the board and it would be easier to get things done.

Her blog post of September 6, 2026 says that a community member approached her with a petition to install a crosswalk and a crossing guard at Woodvale Green, and that she supports it and will help drive it forward. The petition page, created on September 5, 2026, was started by another person. The post lists three news articles about her, including the Ottawa Citizen article after a stabbing in the Craig Henry neighbourhood, in which she is quoted as a resident involved with the Manordale-Woodvale Community Association and says she has seen Islamophobia expressed in the community, not specifically linked to that incident.

The board’s page says that since June 27, 2025 the board has been under supervision by the Minister of Education, and that decisions normally made by trustees are made by the appointed Supervisor, Robert Plamondon. She holds no public office on the record voche.me read. The sources read hold no complaint or allegation about her.

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 7, 2026: the City’s list of certified candidates for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (an Internet Archive copy) and its open data file of nominations, her campaign website (home, Priorities, one blog post), CBC News of July 23 and August 27, 2026, two Ottawa Citizen articles, the Change.org petition page, the CTV News Ottawa list of school board candidates of September 9, 2026, and the board’s page on supervision.

Gaps. She gave the City no social media account and none was found. Her school council roles and her community association involvement are her own statements and were not checked. She says in the post that the petition is one she supports, and the petition page names another person as its starter. The shared statement was read as CBC News and the Ottawa Citizen report it. Her Priorities page links a Shared Principles document, but its address could not be found in the page, so the full text was not read from her site. The voche.me questionnaire has not been sent.
