01 / Introduction

## About Muyiwa Ojo

The City of Ottawa’s list of certified candidates shows Muyiwa Ojo’s nomination for Councillor in Ward 22 Riverside South-Findlay Creek dated May 1, 2026, with the same date for his registration in the Contribution Rebate Program. He gave the City a campaign website. CBC News says he works in finance, and CTV News Ottawa calls him a finance professional. The other candidate in the ward is the sitting Councillor, Steve Desroches.

His campaign website says he is a finance professional with a career in corporate planning and resource allocation, holds an Executive MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University, and has lived in Findlay Creek since 2021. It says he served on the board of the Findlay Creek Community Association and on the board of a local political association, which it does not name. In the CTV News Ottawa questionnaire he says he has served on the board of a political party and previously on the board of the Findlay Creek Community Association. He gives 5 years as his time in Ottawa and in the ward. voche.me did not check these statements with the school or the associations, and found no party named for him in any source.

His campaign website lists four priorities. Safer streets means traffic calming in high-risk areas, safer crossings and better lighting in parks and on paths. Opportunities for youth means a Ward 22 Youth Advisory Council, mentoring and summer jobs with local businesses, and community spaces for science, arts and leadership programs. Transit and traffic means more reliable OC Transpo service and fewer traffic bottlenecks. Infrastructure means parks, recreation facilities and services that keep pace with growth, and a fair share of City funding for the ward. The site says he has reached thousands of doors since June 2026. These are his own statements.

In the CBC News questionnaire he says the City’s biggest challenge is managing growth while maintaining services, names transportation infrastructure as the ward’s top need, says the Ottawa Police Service budget should be increased with funding tied to public-safety outcomes and accountability, and says climate spending should rest on evidence and not treat every climate project as an automatic priority. He left the questions on the 2027 tax increase, affordability, OC Transpo changes, OC Transpo deficits and the biggest improvement in the ward unanswered. In the CTV News Ottawa questionnaire he says he would not make fare increases the first answer to OC Transpo’s problems. The text printed there under the police budget question is about an infrastructure levy: he would consider a levy if it is targeted, transparent and tied to critical infrastructure. The sources read hold no complaint against him.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 7, 2026: the City’s list of certified candidates for Ward 22 (an Internet Archive copy) and its open data file of nominations, his campaign website (home, Meet Muyiwa and Why I’m Running), CBC News of August 25, 2026 and its questionnaire, and CTV News Ottawa of September 2026.

Gaps. His public Facebook page and Instagram profile showed no readable posts to a visitor who is not logged in. The French pages and the forms on his campaign site were not used. The CTV News Ottawa video from him has no written version and was not used. He holds no public role on record, so no minutes search applied. His statements about his degree, his job and his board service were not checked with the bodies named, and no source names the political party or association he refers to.
