01 / Introduction

## About Keelin Pringnitz

The City of Ottawa’s list of certified candidates shows Keelin Pringnitz’s nomination for trustee of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in Zone 10 dated July 7, 2026. The City’s open data file shows no withdrawal. The other candidates in the zone are Shannon Boschy and Diana Mills. The City list gives her a campaign website, a Facebook page and an Instagram account. The Leveller named her on July 24, 2026 among the Zone 10 candidates, and CTV News Ottawa links her site in its guide of September 9, 2026.

Her campaign site says she is a public service worker and a parent, grew up in Huntsville, Ontario, and moved to Ottawa in 2015 to study for a PhD at the University of Ottawa. It says she has worked as a teaching assistant and part-time professor and now works as a public servant, with years in federal policy, data and business analyst roles. It lists a PhD in Religious Studies with specializations in sociology and Canadian studies from the University of Ottawa, and two degrees from Wilfrid Laurier University. The Fulcrum, the University of Ottawa student newspaper, reported on January 16, 2022 that Keelin Pringnitz, then a part-time professor and PhD student in the department of classics and religious studies, taught a sociology of religion course, and quoted students who praised her teaching. Her site links that article. The degrees, the public service work and her other roles are her own statements and were not checked.

The site lists community roles: external advisor to the Manitoba Association of Women’s Shelters, municipal consultant to the Township of Ignace, volunteer guide runner with Achilles Ottawa, and treasurer and secretary roles in graduate student associations, unions and community organizations. Its priorities are transparency (meetings that can be viewed online, clear communication, public consultation and strong fiscal management), student success (properly resourced schools, smaller classes, protecting specialized programs such as alternative schools, gifted programs and French Immersion, special education support and support for teachers and education workers) and safety (physical safety, keeping hate out of schools and support services to reduce classroom violence).

A post on her site dated September 1, 2026 states her values, among them human rights for disabled students, steps toward reconciliation with First Nations, Métis and Inuit students, protection of alternative and gifted programs, support for 2SLGBTQ+ students, and both freedom of religion and freedom from religion. Her page on supervision says that if elected she will have no vote, budget or formal authority until that changes, and that she will keep families informed about the Supervisor’s actions, listen to families, and work with other elected trustees to ask the province to lift the suspension.

CBC News and the Ottawa Citizen reported on August 27, 2026 that she is one of eight trustee candidates who signed a shared statement of principles, organized by Cathy Varrette, that calls for an immediate end to the board’s provincial supervision. The Citizen quotes her: “It’s important that our voices are heard, and part of the reason I’m running is to try and get some of that power back.” The other seven signers named are John MacRae (Zone 1), Daniel Pershick (Zone 3), Emily Quaile (Zone 4), Natasha Lynn Mott (Zone 5), Chris Durrant (Zone 6), Brendan Ray (Zone 11) and Cathy Varrette (Zone 12).

The board’s page says that since June 27, 2025 the board has been under supervision by the Minister of Education, and that decisions normally made by trustees are made by the appointed Supervisor, Robert Plamondon. The sources read hold no complaint or allegation about her.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 7, 2026: the City’s list of certified candidates for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (an Internet Archive copy) and its open data file of nominations, six pages of her campaign website, The Fulcrum of January 16, 2022, CBC News and the Ottawa Citizen of August 27, 2026, The Leveller of July 24, 2026, the CTV News Ottawa list of September 9, 2026, and the board’s page on supervision.

Gaps. Her Facebook and Instagram pages need a login, and her LinkedIn profile, which her site mentions, was not opened, so nothing from social media was used. Her degrees, her public service work and her community roles are her own statements and were not checked. The Ottawa Citizen article is behind a subscriber wall in part, and only the readable text was used. She holds no public office on the record voche.me read. The voche.me questionnaire has not been sent.
