01 / Introduction

## About Farah Gulzar

The City of Ottawa’s list of certified candidates shows Farah Gulzar’s nomination for Councillor in Ward 17 Capital dated June 2, 2026, and shows no registration in the Contribution Rebate Program. It lists no website and no social media account for her. She is one of three candidates in the ward, with the sitting Councillor Shawn Menard and Jaac Doduck. CBC News reports that she founded an organization called Quik Goals Women and Child Protection Foundation. In NCR Now she describes herself as the founder, president and director of the Quick World Women and Child Protection Foundation and says she has served her community for more than 12 years. The two names differ, and voche.me did not check either with Corporations Canada or the foundation.

Her own statements are the main source on this page. On LinkedIn she announced her campaign in a post that says she filed her nomination papers that day. In the CBC News questionnaire she lists community and non-profit leadership and community advocacy as her experience, and says she has lived in the ward for more than 8 years. She names housing affordability and the cost of living as Ottawa’s biggest challenge, and says she would support a maximum property tax increase of 3 percent for 2027 and a transit levy for OC Transpo deficits beyond money from other levels of government. In the CTV News Ottawa questionnaire she says she could support a dedicated infrastructure levy only if it is transparent and tied to measurable results. She calls the police budget appropriate, tied to accountability and prevention. She supports free or lower-cost transit for children and youth and off-peak transit for seniors, and says new development should pay its fair share of roads, sidewalks, transit and parks.

Her answers in NCR Now and the CTV News Ottawa questionnaire repeat the same themes: reliable and affordable transit, safer streets and sidewalks, better parks, community gardens and facilities for youth and seniors, a review of City spending for waste, and regular reports to residents on what they said and what the City did about it. No public role is on record in the profile. The sources read hold no complaint against her.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 6, 2026: the City’s list of certified candidates for Ward 17 (an Internet Archive copy) and its open data file, CBC News of August 25, 2026 and her CBC News questionnaire, CTV News Ottawa of September 2026, NCR Now of September 1, 2026, and two public LinkedIn posts.

Gaps. She gave the City no website or social media account, and no campaign website was found. Her foundation, the length of her community work and her residence in the ward are her own statements, and the foundation is named differently by CBC News and by her. voche.me did not check them with Corporations Canada or any other body. Her LinkedIn profile page could not be read, and only two posts were. No news report beyond the ward pages was found. The voche.me questionnaire has not been sent.
